Zaltz was a planet-state and the homeworld of the Zaltzi human species. It was conquered by the Greater Garmillan Empire.
Overview[]
Zaltz is located within the borders of the Greater Garmillan Empire. The great similarities between the Zaltzi and other human species such as the Earthlings, the Iscandarians or the Garmillas suggests that Zaltz may be similar to these species' homeworlds in terms of atmosphere and geography.[4][5]
History[]

Eons in the past, Zaltz was visited by the Archelian Star-Voyaging Ark which seeded it with life, eventually leading to the development of the Zaltzi human species. In more recent times, Zaltz was united into a single planet-state.[6] It was conquered by the Garmillas many years before 2199[7] and became a colony planet.[3] The Garmillan attack on the planet was so devastating that decades later, in 2205, the veteran Vance Barlen talks about Garmillas "destroying" the planet.[8]
By 2199, multiple Zaltzi were seen throughout the territory of the Greater Garmillan Empire, with many serving as loyal soldiers of the empire within the Imperial Garmillas Defense Force.[4][9] Some younger Zaltzi, who were born and grew under the Desler administration, saw Supreme Leader for life Abelt Desler as their saviour.[7] However, others were not content with Garmillan rule and protested against the central government, some were interned on Leptapoda, one of the empire's prison planets.[10]

In the Space Battleship Yamato 2199 Manga a warm region on Zaltz called Halein is mentioned.[11]
