Yutaka Izubuchi (出渕 裕, Izubuchi Yutaka) (born August 12, 1958) is a Japanese mecha and character designer, anime director, illustrator, and manga artist. He has worked on various installation in the Space Battleship Yamato since Space Battleship Yamato III. Most notably, he served as General Director for Space Battleship Yamato 2199.
Biography[]
Yutaka Izubuchi became a fan of the original Space Battleship Yamato when it first aired in Japan in 1974,[1] eventually joining a fan club called the "Yamato Association".[2]
He collaborated on Space Battleship Yamato III and Final Yamato, providing help with the SF setting and the mecha design respectively. In 2012, he was appointed as General Director of Space Battleship Yamato 2199, a remake of the original series.[3] He also worked as head writer for the series, and provided some mecha designs. He wrote five episodes, was screenwriter for 19, and provided the screenplay for 7.[4] He was scriptwriter for Space Battleship Yamato 2199: Odyssey of the Celestial Ark, a spin-off movie of 2199.
