The Yamato Series (ヤマトシリーズ, Yamatoshirīzu),[1] also known by the internation title Star Blazers,[N 1] is a Japanese science fiction franchise encompassing anime, manga, live-action adaptations, and other media, all centered around the eponymous spacecraft, the space battleship Yamato.
The series began with the release of Space Battleship Yamato, a 26-episode animated series that first aired in 1974. The series revolutionized Japanese anime and laid the foundation for the sci-fi anime boom that followed in subsequent years. It was eventually released internationally under various titles, leading to numerous sequels, remakes, and adaptations in manga, novels, and video games.
In 2012, a remake series was launched and is currently ongoing, having already recreated more than half of the original series' works.
