Space battleship Yamato's Wave-motion Engine
The Wave-motion Engine, also known as the Dimensional Wave-motion Engine and more formally as the Dimensional Wave-motion Superstring Jump Engine[1][2] or the Dimensional Wave-motion Amplitude Reactor Engine,[3] is a type of engine that utilizes Wave-motion Energy to allow a vehicle to travel at faster-than-light speed by warping. It has been used by most human species for thousands of years. Each civilization's version of the engine is slightly different. For example, the Garmillas use their own version of the engine called the Geshtam Engine.

The Dimensional Wave-motion Engine is a powerful engine that can generate energy by drawing it from the vacuum of space without requiring external replenishment. The engine works by expanding the extra dimensions that existed at the beginning of the universe, which have since been compactified into Calabi-Yau manifolds with a diameter of one Planck length, and returning them to their original sizes. As these dimensions expands, they release supergravity, which generates micro black holes.[4][5] The micro black holes then evaporate into Hawking radiation, releasing enormous amounts of radiant energy.[5][6]

To start the Wave-motion Engine, it needs to be provided with a consistent amount of antimatter[7] and equipped with a Wave-motion Core,[8] which is essential to expand the extra dimensions.[9] The expansion of the Calabi-Yau manifolds happens within the engine's reactor core.[5] Wave-motion Energy manifests as a vibration on the manifold's membrane,[5] and is extracted from the difference in vacuum energy that occurs with cosmic inflation.[10][N 1] The Wave-motion Core is inserted inside the startup unit cylinder, which acts as the connection switch between it and the engine and is incorporated into the Wave-motion Core conduit bay together with a plasma-emitting electrode.[11] When the Wave-motion Engine is activated, its internal pressure is increased to fill it with energy. The quantum flywheel is connected to the startup cylinder, and energy is generated inside the Wave-motion Core as the extra dimensions expand and contract.[8][12] When the engine stops, multi-dimensional momentum is stored inside the flywheel, and the power condenser is charged.[11]
The energy generated by the Dimensional Wave-motion Engine can power other devices, such as shock cannons.[8] The Hawking radiation it produces can be utilized in a Wave-motion Gun,[3] while the Wave-motion Energy can be resonated through Wave-motion Coils to project a Wave-motion Shield.[13][14]
Most human species have developed their own version of the Wave-motion Engine, which applies the same principle with slight variations. One example is the Geshtam Engine, built by the Garmillans.[3]

The Wave-motion Engine enables faster-than-light travel by creating a wormhole in front of the ship it's equipped on. The engine also envelops the vessel in a Wave-motion Shield, which manipulates space to move at faster-than-light speeds as it enters the wormhole. While passing through subspace, only the spacetime bubble moves at FTL speed while the ship remains immobile, thus not violating the theory of general relativity.[3][12]
By December 2202, the United Nations Cosmo Navy employed Wave-motion Engines powerful enough to make long distance warps that could allow ships to travel vastly larger distances.[15]
History[]
The basic technology behind the Wave-motion Engine was first developed by the Archelias civilization, and was inherited by the human species they spread throughout the universe. While at its core the technology remained the same, each species made its own arrangements to the engine, resulting in small variations most notable during the warp process. Additionally, the various models of Wave-motion Engines also have different performances.[12] The first human species known to have built a Wave-motion Engine are the Iscandarians, who utilised FTL travel during their bloody campaigns in the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds.[8][16]

By the 22nd century, the Garmillans had already developed their form of Wave-motion Engine, the Geshtam Engine, but other humans species such as the Earthlings had not. The Earth came under attack by Garmillas in 2191, when Queen Stasha Iscandar discovered this she sent technological support to the planet which included the plans for the Wave-motion Engine that could allow the earthling to reach Iscandar and retrieve the Cosmo Reverse System, a device capable of curing the Earth's biosphere which had been ruined by the war. The engine was built and equipped on the first Warp-capable spaceship in Earth's history, space battleship Yamato, which completed her journey towards Iscandar and successfully retrieved the CRS.[8][17]
In the following years the Earth Federation made great strides in the techological field, especially thanks to the discovery of a time fault and the placing of a factory in it, which allowed the earthling to develop engines capable of warping far greater distances, by 2205 the journey from Earth to Iscandar took much less time it did when Yamato first took off in 2199, although the battleship was now aided by a restructured subspace gate system.[15][18]
