Story guide
"Gravestone on a Frozen Field"
"The Sun Sets on Pluto"

Juzo Okita moves to destroy the Garmillas base on Pluto that has been raining destruction on Earth for years, only to find the base commander lying in wait for Yamato's arrival.

  • Aside from the possibility of destroying Pluto, Admiral Okita does not give a clear reason for deciding against using Yamato's wave motion gun against the enemy base. Nanbu's open question about why Pluto's destruction would be a problem is not answered, and Okita abruptly cuts of the discussion by ordering the crew to proceed with conventional weapons. This contrasts with the original series episode "Yamato Sinks! Fateful Battle to Destroy the Enemy Stronghold!" in which Okita makes a moral choice to not risk wiping out indigenous life that exists on Pluto.
