- Only a few seconds pass between the White Comet's disappearance from Yamato's optical scanners and its emergence from warp in dangerously close proximity to the space battleship. Previous episodes of the current series and of Space Battleship Yamato 2199 establish that warping is a very rapid process, even across vast distances. This suggests that the bridge crew were watching optical scanner data on the White Comet live or very nearly live. Additionally, a scene in the 2199 episode "Wish Upon a Star," in which the Yamato crew view the planet Earth as it appeared more than eight years earlier from a distance of more than eight light years demonstrates that limits on the speed of light--and the speed of information--are in effect. Therefore, for Yamato to have nearly instantaneous information about the White Comet, it would have already been relatively close to the Comet's original position, or it would have used a probe with faster-than-light communication capability.
