Space Battleship Yamato Wiki

This article is about Terezart as presented in Space Battleship Yamato 2202: Warriors of Love. For its counterpart in Space Battleship Yamato 2 and Farewell to Space Battleship Yamato, see Terezart (OS).

Terezart,[4] also called Telezart,[5] is a mythical planet home to the goddess Teresa. Long before the birth of the human species, was home to the ancient Terezartians, which eventually transcended their physical and left the mortal plane, becoming one and giving birth to Teresa. Like the goddess, Terezart itself exists between normal space and an higher dimension, and can show itself or become intangible and invisible at Teresa's will. In recent years, the world had become inhabited by a group of monks, before the Gatlantis Empire wiped them out. It also played a significant role in the Gatlantis campaign, before disappearing in early 2203.

Overview[]

Terezart is a free-floating terrestrial planet whose surface is covered mostly in water. The planet is hollow and overflows with the energy of the goddess Teresa, which flows from another dimension and acts in a similar way to antimatter.[1][6] The physical results of this energy are a teal bubble of energy surrounding the entire planet, and two energy jets overflowing from opposite sides of the surface. Despite not having a sun, Terezart's surface is constantly illuminated, and it's air is breathable to humans.[1]

Terezart crust

Terezart under Gatlantean occupation

The planet has the ability to turn invisible and intangible at Teresa's wish.[7] In 2202 it manifested in normal space and was occupied by the Gatlantis Empire, who began building an artificial crust surrounding the entire planet to harness its unique energy.[1][8] Additionally, the empire's attack made a portion of Terezart's sea evaporate, creating a desert.[2]

History[]

Souls of the Terezart people

The Terezartians ascend

Before the evolution of the various human species, planet Terezart was inhabited by the Terezartians, an alien race who reached the pinnacle of civilization to the point that they could transform the unlimited power of the soul into energy, granting them nigh limitless power. The Terezartians eventually trascended their mortal bodies, becoming mental entities and merging into a single being, crystalized beyond time and space, the goddess Teresa. Teresa existed in an higher dimension where the fourth dimension, time, became visible.[9] Therefore, she could not freely manifest herself in normal space. However, the Terezarium, her sanctuary on Terezart, existed suspended between her her plane of existance and normal space, making it possible for her to interact with visitors in the location.[2]

Teresa praying

Teresa guided humanity through her prayer for thousands of years

As she could see all possible futures the entirity of the flow of time from beginning to end, over the next thousands of years, Teresa begun guiding various humans toward the most optimal future. She became an object of worship in various cultures throughout the universe and her planet became the object of legends. Eventually, a group of monks settled on Terezart and became the guardians of the Terezarium.[1][9]

In 2202, Terezart was attacked by the Gatlantis Empire and the monks were wiped out. The empire built an artificial encasement around the planet using pieces of crust from other worlds.[1][8] The crust served to extract the goddess' energy from the planet, which the Gatlanteans would then use to build weaponry.[10] Great Emperor Zworder was also eager to sieze the Teresa's power, as it was said that she could fullfill whatever wish was presented to her.[7] On December 2, 2202, Teresa called to her world the crewmembers of the space battleship Yamato, as she foresaw that this was the only way the flow of time could keep going toward the best possible outcome, one where Gatlantis' omnicidal campaign was stopped.[1][2]

Yamato terezart heavy fire

Yamato during its liberation of Terezart

On March 26, 2203,[11] the Yamato fought against the Gatlantean occupational forces to liberate the planet and meet with Teresa inside of the Terezarium. On the same day, the planet fell under the control of the Desler fleet, as Supreme Leader Abelt Desler hoped to use it as leverage to strike a deal with Emperor Zworder. However, 6 days later,[3] Terezart was rendered intangible by Teresa, as after Yamato had come to her world there was no ulterior reason for it to remain visible.[2][7][10]

As Zworder later remarked, the planet did not disappear from space, it simply became unreachable.[12]

Notes[]

  • Terezart is located at a 29-days distance from the Solar system, but due to Yamato's intervening in the Battle of the eleventh planet (and presumably it being slowed down by the subsequent battles of the Gatlantis Campaign), the battleship took about triple the time to reach the planet.[11][13]
