Yamato fires three space torpedoes
The space torpedo[1] or simply torpedo is a type of multi-purpose missile that can be used both in space and in an atmosphere.[2] Unlike regular missiles, space torpedoes propel with a sense of weight.[3] They are used by both the Greater Garmillan Empire,[4] the Bolar Federation,[5] and the Earth.[6] The Earthlings developed a new type of protype space torpedo capable of sinking Garmillas ships by early 2199, and equipped it on the Isokaze-class Space Assault Destroyer Yukikaze.[7] Another model of space torpedo was developed by 2202 and equipped on the Kongo Kai-class Space Battleship[1] and on the Isokaze Kai.[8] The Gatlantis Empire used a weapon known as a Quantum Torpedo.[9]
Subspace torpedos are a type of torpedo fired by Dimensional Submarines that can cross the dimensional boundary between subspace and regular space.[10][11] In order to do so, subspace torpedoes use miniaturized Gesh Vual turbines to propel themselves.[12]
