The Layout Guide is a guideline showing how a Space Battleship Yamato Wiki article should look and how it should be structured.

Disambiguation

• Insert the template {{Disambig}} if the article's topic has counterparts in other continuities (i.e.: The remake series, original series, or live action film).

• If it is possible that a user has found one article when they were actually looking for another of a similar or same name, use the following:
  • Write a block quote Italicized that links to articles similar to the other similarly named articles and/or a disambiguation page.

This article is about the Desler family's territory, for Abelt Desler's flagship see Deusura I. For other uses see Deusura.

Nomination templates

• Insert the template {{Stub}} if the article is a stub. For examples, see the "article stubs" category
• Insert the template {{Fandom Name}} when the article name is an unofficial term, not taken from the series or any official materials. For example, Razera's Eater I

Top series template

• Use the template {{Top series}} for any in-universe article, then select the continuity that your article is part of. For example Susumu Kodai (2199)

The infobox is a compact right-aligned box at the top of articles, used to present vital statistics of subject.

• Various infoboxes can be accessed by clicking the "insert" button on the edit bar and then clicking "infobox".

Main image

If there is no infobox that fits the topic of the article, insert an image related to the article and align it on the right. Example: (wave motion energy).ù

Opening quote

The opening quote can use either the {{Quote}} and the {{Structured Quote}} templates.

• The opening quote should be descriptive of the article subject.
• The quote should be put after the infobox.

Introduction

The introduction of the article should provide a small summary of the article's topic. It does not need to be sourced, so long as all information provided in the introduction are sourced in the article's body.

Sectioning is essential to presentation and navigation. This is accomplished by adding headings and subheadings as appropriate.

• Articles on certain types of subjects, like characters, have established layouts.
  • For characters, see articles such as Akira Yamamoto (2199);
  • For ship classes, see articles such as Kongo-class Space Battleship;
  • For planets, see articles such as Garmillas;
  • For countries, see articles such as Earth Federation;
  • For species, see articles such as Gatlanteans (2199);
  • For conflicts, see articles such as Great Garmillas War;
  • For battles, see articles such as Battle of the Imperial Capital;
  • For military forces, see articles such as Earth Federation Cosmo Navy;
  • For episodes, see articles such as Messenger of Iscandar;
  • For series, see articles such as Space Battleship Yamato 2199: Odyssey of the Celestial Ark;

• Headings and subheadings are usually not required for very small articles.
• Section length should be based on the content of the article.

• Images should be placed where they are most relevant and should not interrupt the flow or the aesthetics of the article.
• Images should usually alternate from the right-side to the left-side of the article, unless this contradicts the previously stated rule.
• Images should be as high quality as possible.

References

The "References" section should be the last section in the article, unless there is a "Japanese language information" section.

• The template {{Reflist}} or the code <references/>
• If an article has a large number of references, the template reflist should be used with two columns: {{Reflist|2}}. For example: Yamato (2199)

The External links section is a bulleted list of links from websites outside of Space Battleship Yamato Wiki. The section is usually used in articles for real-life people such as voice actors, or for articles describing scientifics topics that also exist outside of the story, such as planets like Saturn.

The Japanese language information section should cover the original Japanese name of an article's topic whenever available.

• The name should be rendered in the original Japanese writing and then in romaji.
• If the article's topic has more than one name, all names that have an official original Japanese translation should be put in this section.
• Whenever the article's topic has more than one name, the corresponding English translation should be written alongside the romaji name. The English name should be put between parenthesis and be small, as seen in the example above.

Navigation boxes

Navigation boxes (navboxes) are templates that help readers find articles about similar subjects.

• For articles about conflicts and battles that are part of one, use the navbox of the specific conflict. For example Battle of the Imperial Capital uses the template {{Great Garmillas War Battles}}.
• For episodes in a series, use the navbox containing all episodes of a series. For example, Toward a Sea of Stars uses the template {{Space Battleship Yamato 2199 episodes}}.
• For media from the remake continutity, use the navbox {{Space Battleship Yamato Reboots}}.
• For all media in the franchise, use the navbox {{Space Battleship Yamato}}.
