Garmillas' second attack on Yamato was a brief attack carried out as part of the Great Garmillas War. This short event marked the beginning of Yamato' s journey towards Iscandar.
Prelude[]
The Missile launched from Pluto
On February 10, 2199, a Pormelia-class Astro Assault Carrier attacked the building site of Yamato, the space battleship that had been outfitted with a Wave-motion engine to travel towards Iscandar and retrieve a piece of technology that could heal Earth's ruined biosphere. The carrier was quickly dealt with and the next day the leadership of Program Yamato Headquarters officially announced Yamato's journey and on February 12, 2199 the battleship began to prepare for launch.[1]
At the same time an Interplanetary ballistic missile sent by Colonel Valcke Schulz of the garmillas Pluto Frontline Base began approaching Earth to destroy the battleship before of took off.[1]
The Attack[]

Yamato was planned to take off at 6 AM on February 12, but as soon as the ship's officers arrived on bridge the UNCF HQ announced that the Interplanetary Missile was en route with its target being Yamato herself.[1]
The ship's autonomous computer unit confirmed that even with the backing of the entirity of the Far-East District Yamato still didn't have enough energy to start her engine and launch before the missile hit her. But at that moment all of the remaining UN blocks diverted their power towards the Far East, and, with the backing of the entire world, Yamato broke free of her disguise and activated her shock cannons firing at the missile and destroying it.[1]

Yamato menaged to activate her Wave-motion Shield just in time, allowing her to survive the blast and to take off towards the sea of stars.[1]
Aftermath[]
Following the attack the battleship Kirishima briefly met with Yamato on orbit of Earth saluting the ship.[2]
Following the event Kirishima picked up a signal coming from the UNCF Lunar Base where the Space Cavalry regiment had come under attack. The flagship quickly went to rescue the survivors.[4]

In the Space Battleship Yamato 2199 manga adaptation the attack plays out in almost the same way as it does in the anime, but a scene is added of Kirishima ranking of under the command of Ryu Hijikata to try and destroy the Interplanetary ballistic missile before it hit Yamato. However even after disengaging the weapons energy limiters to increase output, Kirishima's cannons are unable to demage the missile.[5]
