Saturn is the sixth planet of the solar system. The planet is unique in the system for being circled by a large, vivid, and complex system of rings composed of ice fragments. One of its many moons is Titan ("Space Destroyer Yukikaze Sleeps in the Ice Field", Farewell to Space Battleship Yamato).
Many of the Earth Defense Force's battles with ships of the White Comet Empire occur in the vicinity of Saturn. Admiral Ryu Hijikata lures Valsey's fleet into the rings as part of a trap ("Courage: The Death Of Admiral Hijikata!").
