Yamato's rocket anchor during the Battle of Shambleau
The rocket anchor is a device used to hold the ship against shocks, shock waves, and to stop the ship.
History[]

rocket anchor was first used
The Isokaze-class and Kongo-class were both equipped with rocket anchors. In 2199, the United Nations Cosmo Navy adopted the Type 97 Jet-propelled Space Anchor, which unlike previous models, was exposed and not hidden inside the ship's hull. The Type-97 was equipped on space battleship Yamato and was used frequently during its first year of service.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7]

Andromeda's rocket anchor before launch
In 2202, the Andromeda-class was equipped with two rocket anchors.[8]
At the end of the Decisive Battle off Mars, Andromeda launched her rocket anchor into Yamato and towed it away from the destruction of a planetoid inside the Ark of Destruction.[8]
In 2205, Just before take-off with the 65th Escort Corps, Yamato lifted the rocket anchor from the seabed.[9]
Note[]
- Yamato is the only ship in her class that frequently launches her rocket anchor.[3][5][6][9]
- Andromeda is the only ship to launch her rocket anchor on screen apart from the Yamato.[10]
