Ranhardt Desler, publicly known by his alias Klaus Keyman (KLAUS KEYMAN, Klaus Keyman)[4] was a descendant of the Desler family and nephew of the fallen dictator Abelt Desler. Early in his uncle's reign, he was exiled with his mother, Elsa Desler, following her attempt to assassinate the Supreme Leader. He worked as a military attachée for the Greater Garmillan Empire's ambassador to the Earth Federation, Loren Burrell, and was an investigator of the empire's Security Intelligence Agency. He was involved in a deep undercover mission within the ranks of the Desler Regime Revivalists, a terrorist group aiming to restore an authoritarian regime over Garmillas. To gain their trust, he boarded Yamato under the guise of sabotaging the battleship and guided it on its journey to the legendary Planet Terezart.[5]

History[]

Personality[]

Ranhardt Desler was a young man with a tragic past. He also was shown to be a very distant person who didn't have many friends, that is until he met one of the crew members of the Yamato, Akira Yamamoto, when he saved her life. At first, they were a bit distrustful, but over time Ranhardt Desler and Akira Yamamoto grew to trust each other and became quite close and even fell in love. When he was injured by a Gatlantean spy on Desler's flagship, causing him to lose control of his personal fighter, Yamamoto immediately sensed that he was in trouble and flew to his rescue, saving him in time just moments before his wrecked fighter went below the waves. When he ultimately gave his own life to save Earth, Yamamoto paid her respects to him at Hero's hill.

During his time on the Yamato, he ultimately sided with the battleship against Desler, that is until Desler redeemed himself and out of remorse, Desler decided to help his nephew and the crew of the Yamato by urging them to fight against the Gatlantis Empire, and promising that his flagship will help shield them against the unstable Transit Wave Motion energy. Ranhardt Desler fought alongside the crew of the Yamato during the Golem Assault Battle, where he and Saito fought together and sacrificed themselves to save Earth. Ranhardt Desler was given a proper burial at Heroes Hill, alongside the many other fallen crewmembers of the Yamato. Before Ranhardt Desler died, he left a personal holo-recorded message that was later found by Susumu Kodai, who personally asked Ghader Talon to give it to his uncle Abelt Desler.
