Ramber is a non-standard Dezarian officer of the Dezariam Army and the captain of the battleship Grodez. He was part of the forces that time-travelled back to October 2207 and participated in Dezariam's occupation of Earth. He is among the few Dezariam officials aware of the existance and importance of the fragments of Iscandar, and is tasked with capturing them.
Biography[]
Early life and careeer[]
Ramber is a Dezarian,[2] and had been born by the year 3199.[3] Since his childhood, he was best friend with Alfon and Maxim, two other Dezarians.[4] He eventually joined the Dezariam Army and attained the rank of major.[1]
Invading the Earth[]
After the failure of the Iscandar Transfer Plan, Dezariam decided to travel back in time through a Spacetime Node to Earth in the 23rd century. Their goal was to repair the spatial rupture that would occur in 2798 and prevent the planet's near destruction. However, when the Earth government refused to acknowledge their messages, Dezariam opted to invade the planet using military force.[2][5]
The strategy AI Mother Dezariam devised another plan aimed at recreating an Iscandarian Cosmo Reverse System. This system would be used to fix the spatial rupture in their present time. To accomplish this, Dezariam needed to acquire two key elements called the fragments of Iscandar: the hybrid child Sasha Iscandar Kodai, who possessed the element[6] of the Iscandar Biological Management Program, and the space battleship Yamato, which was equipped with an original Iscandarian wave motion core.[5]
Ramber during the battle against the Bolar fleet
Ramber was among the few[5] military officers aware of this plan, and together with one of his best friends, Major Alfon,[7] was tasked with capturing the fragments.[8] He was given command of the Grodez,[2] a state of the art battleship developed from data acquired by the Yamato and other warships from the 23rd century.[9]
As Dezariam's holy leader, Skulldart, made a public announcement regarding Dezariam's motives, a Bolar Federation warship invaded the solar system. Grodez and its escort were deployed to defend against the invaders, and Ramber used the battleship's Infinite β Cannon to wipe out almost the entirity of the Bolar force.[2]
Hunting the Yamato[]
As part of his mission of capturing the fragments of Iscandar, Ramber was tasked with hunting down the space battleship Yamato, which was also carrying Sasha Iscandar Kodai. Prior to engaging the vessel, he contacted his ally Alfon via com-medals, remarking that Yamato was a "worthy opponent."[8]
Ramber during the battle in the 11th planet space region
Ramber confronted Yamato in the Gatlantis Belt near the 11th planet. Aware of the need to capture the ship intact, he noted he would have to hold back during the battle, an approach he found unfamiliar. The engagement frustrated him, as Yamato repeatedly used the surrounding wreckage as cover. He was eventually caught off guard when the crew utilized the dispersion wave motion guns of the deactivated Andromeda-class battleship Alpheratz to expose the Grodez, which had turned invisible using its phase armor. Although the Grodez was trapped by wave barrier rounds, it managed to escape before being destroyed. Ramber, impressed by the ship’s tactics, described Yamato as an entertaining adversary.[8]
Following this initial defeat, Ramber requested additional intelligence on Yamato from Alfon. He warned that the ship's upgraded weaponry, capable of destroying a Golba Class fortress, meant they could no longer afford to show restraint, even if it carried the two fragments. Alfon agreed and volunteered to engage Yamato next.[10]
Ramber talks with Alfon aboard the Grodez
Alfon later transferred his consciousness into a secondary body stored aboard the Grodez. Upon activation, he was greeted by Ramber, who reported that Yamato and the Earth carrier Asuka had separated three hours earlier, with Yamato en route to the Spacetime Node at the center of the Milky Way. Ramber expressed skepticism that the ship would be able to cross the node, as it was powered by a wave motion engine. He also noted that the vessel would need to pass through Bolar Federation territory, sarcastically commenting on the enemy’s strategy. He reminded Alfon that their window for gathering information was limited.[10]
The Grodez launched another assault on Yamato, deploying multi-legged tanks onto the ship as a diversion while Alfon boarded covertly. His objective was to capture Sasha Iscandar Kodai and retreat via one of the ship's side observation decks, where the Grodez would retrieve him using a capture field. Alfon also mistakingly brought aboard Kaoru Niimi, Iscandar Kodai’s tutor. Ramber sardonically pointed out the error, noting that Alfon had also passed up an opportunity to eliminate Earth officer Susumu Kodai. Alfon dismissed the misstep, blaming it on limitations of the spare body he was using.[10]
After the successful extraction, Alfon informed Ramber that another vessel would arrive to transport the captives. Ramber showed brief curiosity about the origin of the ship, but quickly dismissed the question, acknowledging that the event had already occurred. Having access to historical records detailing Dezariam's interference with the timeline, both Ramber and Alfon were aware of what was to come.[11]
Ramber tells Alfon his plan to ambush the Yamato
As the Grodez, with Yamato in pursuit, entered the unstable Orphée Space Region, Ramber revealed his intention to use their foreknowledge to set an ambush. Since they knew that the Grodez would not be sinked before they transferred Iscandar Kodai, he wanted to use the opportunity to attack the Yamato. However, the Earth crew anticipated the maneuver and used a decoy signal to lure the Dezarian forces away from the actual ship, placing the Grodez and its escorts in a counter-trap.[11]
Caught by surprise, Ramber ordered Alfon to sortie in a fighter to assist in the battle. He was visibly frustrated when Alfon, prioritizing the mission's success, ordered a retreat. Ramber reluctantly complied. The two later observed the arrival of the extraction vessel, which departed with Niimi and Iscandar Kodai. Alfon subsequently informed Ramber of his intention to return to Earth.[11]
False flag operation[]
Ramber watches in frustration the result of his attack against Galman-Garmillas
As Yamato prepared to enter Galman-Garmillas space via the intergalactic subspace gate, the cloaked Grodez was to attack the local garrison. The goal was to falsely implicate the Earth vessel in the assault. Ramber voiced. Ramber voiced his discomfort with the plan to Alfon, but he revealed that the operation came from Mother Dezariam herself.[12]
Despite his reservations, Ramber carried out the mission. After Alfon and several fighter pilots delayed Yamato, the Earth ship entered the gate, and the Grodez executed the assault as planned before withdrawing from the area.[12]
