The North American District, also called North America, was one of the United Nations' districts which existed during the Great Garmillas War. By February of 2199, North America had its own rapresentative.[3][N 1]

Under the UN's orders, the North American District developed an evacuation starship to flee the dying Earth, the Arizona, but the ship was not completed in time and the plans to abandon the planet were eventually replaced by Program Yamato.[2]

During the space battleship Yamato's launch in February of 2199, North America supplied the ship with energy to allow it to take off.[4]

Years after the abandonment of the Arizona's construction efforts, under the Earth Federation, the vessel was repurposed into a space battleship.[2]

  1. The North American rapresentative was supposed to appear in the meeting of the UN leadership in "Toward a Sea of Stars" but was replaced with the USA and Chinese rapresentatives, as seen in Space Battleship Yamato 2199 Model Sheet Design Collection EARTH p.240. His affiliation to the UN district "North America" rather than to the USA is confirmed in the French DVD box set for Space Battleship Yamato 2199. The USA rapresentative is credited as "North America Rapresentative" in the credits for "Toward a Sea of Stars", this might be a mistake or it could mean that the same person has both roles.
