Nol is a young teenage Gatlantean who lives in the society of Gatlantis, he strives to grow up to live up to the name Gorland, while at the same time struggling to find the human feeling of parent and child.[1]
During his first battle against the Yamato in the Terezart sector, Admiral Gorland tearfully embraced him in the flash of a wave-motion cannon, and he disappeared, feeling a certain sense of paternity.[2]
Biography[]
Personality & Characteristics[]
Despite being a Gatlantean clone of Gorland, Nol’s personality is very different compared to the typical cruel, sadistic, bloodthirsty, warlike behavior of most Gatlanteans. When Gorland took him down to hunt down a family of Sand Dragons, Nol showed mercy towards a grieving baby Sand Dragon, before granting it a swift and merciful death, even showing tears, possibly out of being horrified, disgusted, and showing regret at what he had done.
Nol is shown wanting nothing more than to experience human emotions such as being held and treated like a son to Gorland, whom he sees as a father figure, even if the latter refuses to accept that. During his first and only battle with the Earth space battleship Yamato, Nol was at first unsure of himself, but he began to question his loyalty and tried to reason with Gorland to cease his attack on the Yamato, even if Gorland at first dismissed and saw human emotions, such as love and mercy as meaningless. Nol showed shock and horror when Gorland ordered his ships to finish off the Yamato. When the Yamato finally managed to fire her wave motion gun at Gorlands fleet, in their final moments Gorland finally accepts Nol as his son and they both embrace and come to terms with their death, with Nol finally smiling for the first time, before the both of them perish.
