Although this article is based on official information, its name is not.
The EDF New Heavy Cruiser was built to replace both the aging Hood and Konigsberg class ships.
Armaments and Specifications[]
This class, as all of the "New" type warships, are heavy descended from the Yamato design. The EDF Cruiser was much faster than the larger EDF Battleships, however like the battleships, it wasn't all that very maneuverable to begin with as Denguil Torpedo Ships could easily outflank them (Final Yamato). The New EDF Heavy Cruiser has heavy firepower with multiple torpedo and missile launchers. Its main punch is a Heavy Wave Motion Gun and two 3 barreled Shock Cannon Turrets. This class suffered heavy losses to the Hyper-radiation missile equipped forces of the Denguil Empire (Final Yamato).
History[]
In the year 2203 A.D, when the Denguil Empire began their merciless attack on both Earth's colonies and civilian convoy spaceships intent on flooding the Earth. Earth Defense Fleet commander in chief Heikuro Todo then immediately ordered all available Earth Warships [which consisted of both EDF Battleships and many EDF Heavy Cruisers] to intercept the attacking Denguil Fleet, but they were sadly too late to save the vulnerable and unprotected civilian transport ships in time as well as the large Colony Space Station. The unnamed fleet commander of the lead unidentified EDF Battleship Flagship’s unnamed captain then orders all EDF ships in the fleet to prepare to fire their wave motion guns at the approaching enemy Denguil Fleet. Unfortunately, General Lugal de Zahl the ruthless military fleet commander of the Denguil invasion fleet immediately saw the Earth Fleet firing their wave motion guns which streaked towards them. Lugal de Zahl then immediately ordered his ships to warp instantly, quickly getting out of the line of fire in time while their Torpedo Carrier Ships caught the Earth Fleet completely by surprise and quickly ambushed the Earth Fleet by firing their Hyper-radiation missiles which destroying so many unfortunate EDF Battleships and EDF Heavy Cruisers in the process, thus clearing a way for the Denguil Empire's main forces. During the Denguil's bloody attack on Earth's shipyards, many docked EDF Battleships and EDF Heavy Cruiser's were completely destroyed. Since many of the EDF Battleships and EDF Heavy Cruiser's were destroyed by the Denguil Empire Forces during their devastating attack on Earth, it can be assumed that very very very few EDF Heavy Cruiser's and EDF Battleships probably didn't even survive the aftermath of the devastating Earth-Denguil War conflict, and those that did manage to somehow survive were most likely decommissioned (Final Yamato). The EDF Dreadnought class and Super Andromeda class would be considered the ideal and much more worthy replacements for both the aging EDF Cruiser's and EDF Battleships by the year 2220 (Space Battleship Yamato Resurrection).
Trivia[]
- This ship class [just like the New EDF Battleship] was also never given an official ship class name and was only left unnamed in the movie Final Yamato.
