Namio Sakamaki (坂巻浪郎, Sakamaki Namio) is a EFCN veteran officer serving as Tactical Officer of the Hyuga's Tactical Department. He served aboard Yamato during the Great Garmillas War and saw action aboard a Dreadnought-class during the Gatlantis Campaign before being transferred to the 65th Escort Corps in late 2205.

History

Early life and service

Namio Sakamaki was born on Earth, on November 11, 2172. Sometime after enlisting in the United Nations Cosmo Force he formed a rivalry and friendship with Haruo Nishina. In 2199, he boarded the UNCN battleship Yamato on its journey to Iscandar and took command of the ship's first main turret. Following his return to the Earth, he was sent on duty away from the planet. During the Gatlantis Campaign, he boarded a manned Dreadnought-class. He broke the long-range shot record for a double positron shock cannon during the Decisive Battle off Mars.

Yamato's new voyage

In 2205, he was transferred to the 65th Escort Corps, a new EFCN division made out mostly of former Yamato crewmembers and new recruits. He was assigned to the modified Dreadnought-class Battle Carrier Hyuga and became the ship's Tactical Officer. On October 2, he assisted in the graduation ceremony of the 38th Class of Space Defense Academy. He then boarded Hyuga as the ship took off with its fleet on a diplomatic journey to the Salezar system. On the first training day for the fleet's new cadets, his eye was caught by the capabilities of Shigeru Sakamoto, a new member of Yamato's fighter squadron.

Sakamaki continued to serve aboard Hyuga for the remainder of its journey and ended up fighting in all major battles of the Dezarium War which the battle carrier partook in.
