The Moonbase is a facility operated by the United Nations Cosmo Force's Space Defense Command,[2] established either before or during the Great Garmillas War. The 7th Space Cavalry Regiment was stationed there during the last here of the war. On Feburary 9, 2199,[3] the base fell under attack from a Pormelia-class Astro Assault Carrier and its fighters.[4]
Following the end of the Garmillas War the Cosmo Force continued to use the base, and its headquarters became the seat of the Lunar Squadron and the testing ground for the prototype Cosmo Tiger I fighter.[5][6]
Behind the scenes[]
The Moonbase first appears in the prologue to Odyssey of the Celestial Ark.[7] It's first named in the official website for Space Battleship Yamato 2202.[5] Its English name can be seen in the designation of Akira Yamamoto's Cosmo Tiger I, written on the fighter itself.[8]
Notes[]
- According to the Yamato 2202 novelization, the Lunar Base was expanded during its post-war reconstruction.[9]
