Space Battleship Yamato Wiki
ORIGINAL CONTINUITY

The Maya was formally the personal flagship of Admiral Metzler and the second largest ship of the Greater Urup Interstellar Alliance and SUS Empire barring the Dimensional Fortress itself, the Maya's towering form was regarded as the alliance's will made manifest.[1]

Armament, Specifications, and Shortcomings[]

The Maya was a massive, truly a one of a kind, towering, glistening, metal monster that was incredibly tall, with two small wings (one on either side), with a central forward facing command center that served as the main bridge, as well as a huge window, so the commanding officer could watch as the defenseless and subjugated people on the worlds they’re invading be crushed with great satisfaction. (Yamato Rebirth)

As for armament, the Maya herself was frightfully well armed, boasting 26 horizontal Heavy Neutron Beam Cannons as it’s primary, main weaponry that theroretically, when fired all at one could presumably fire a huge deadly burst of energy that could potentially pulverize enemies into dust (yet this weapon was never used prior and after it’s destruction). As for smaller armaments, the Maya was also armed with numerous 26 Small Laser Hybrid beam weaponry that are used for close quarters combat (the only time these weapons were ever used was in the Maya’s final moments when she was fatally rammed by Admiral Gouri’s flagship, the Segal). (Yamato Rebirth)

Despite being a massive, heavily armed, armored battleship with a fierce-some and terrifying reputation, the Maya was not without it’s own weaknesses, however. One notable example is that the massive vessel was vulnerable to flanking attacks (as shown when the Maya’s crew were taken by surprised when the Ethos flagship Segal rammed the massive vessel, which was something they did not expect) as well as it’s reduced speed ratings and extremely poor maneuverability. (Yamato Rebirth)

Another notable example is the ship’s firepower range and rate (as the Maya could not charge and fire it’s main weapon in time to stop the much faster Etos battleship Segal’s successful suicide ram which resulted in the vessel’s satisfying and fiery end). (Yamato Rebirth)

History[]

SUS Attack on the Earth Migration Fleet[]

All orders transmitted from the Maya were treated as orders of the Alliance command itself, whether it be judge, jury, or executioner. Nominally built with such authority for the purpose of righting terrible wrongs and bringing peace in its wake, the ship's actual use was that of pure subjugation. Brutal suppression campaigns and insidious plots to keep members of the alliance in check by way of terror were the hallmark of the Maya, as it would assert dominance over all it presided over by commanding a veritable fleet of SUS battleships to raze entire populations should they step out of line.

The Maya was first most likely present during the devastating SUS Attack on the 1st Earth Migration Fleet at the start of the Earth Federation-SUS Empire War [but it may have been far behind, while safely observing from afar). (Yamato Rebirth)

Viewing the Battle of BH-199 Blackhole[]

During the Battle of BH-199 Blackhole, the Maya and it’s fleet which includes it's many SUS Battleships as it's escorts, from afar, they observed the fierce battle between Earth and the Alliance’s forces led by Admiral Gouri, much to Admiral Metzler's amusement, that is until Admiral Gouri decided to defy the SUS Empire's orders and allow the Earth fleet to escape once he realized that the SUS Empire had lied to him. Metzler was most likely informed of Gouri's unwillingness to murder innocent Humans by his superior Barlsman, who presumably told him to keep a watchful eye on Admiral Gouri, should Admiral Gouri decided to step out of line and decide to ultimately betray them. Following the Earth Fleet, Battle Over the Skies of Amare with the Ethos Fleet, and Final Destruction[]

“Set course for flagship Maya! Target, Metzler!”

—Admiral Gouri, to Segal’s First OfficerYamato: Rebirth

The Maya and it’s fleet would later follow the Earth fleet to the planet Amare, where the fleet attacked the people of Amare for daring to defy and allow the humans asylum. The towering ship Maya finally met its end without a single shot fired from its colossal array of neutron cannons, however, when the Ethos fleet saw the SUS Empire's betrayal of Amare for what it was and was finally destroyed when the Ethos flagship Segal commanded by the honorable Admiral Gouri, who had managed to successfully bring the vile battleship Maya burning down in a mutually destructive act of defiance, much to Admiral Metzler's anger, cursing Admiral Gouri's name, as he narrowly escaped the Maya to report back his failure and humiliation. This act of defiance and heroic sacrifice by Gouri and the Ethos fleet destroying the pride of the SUS Empire's interstellar navy, thus signaled the beginning of both Earth and Amare’s true independence and desire to be free, as well as the eventual downfall and end of the SUS Empire’s reign of terror for good. • The Maya’s design structure itself looks like a massive unholy church cross in appearance.
