The Mars Camouflage is a type of military camouflage in which ships are painted mainly in red and orange, the color of the land of Mars. It was first adopted by the Martian Autonomous Government Space Navy and was later taken up by the United Nations during the Second Inner Planetary War and the Great Garmillas War. The United Nations Cosmo Navy continued to use it for ships deployed to defend the Mars Defense Front during and after the Gatlantis Campaign.[1][2]
As Mars underwent terraforming, anti-martian weaponry changed their camouflage to blue, and maintained it even after terraforming stopped. The navy blue paintjob used by squadron leader ships in the Earth Federation Cosmo Fleet is said to come from this variant of the Mars Camouflage.[3]
