This article is about the Kelkapia-class High Speed Astro Cruiser from Space Battleship Yamato 2199 and its sequels. For its counterpart in the original Space Battleship Yamato and its sequels, see High Speed Cruiser.
The Kelkapia-class High Speed Astro Cruiser is a class of Greater Garmillan Empire astro armored ship in service in the Imperial Astro Fleet and, formerly, in the Imperial Guard.
Armaments and Technical Specifications[]
The Kelkapia class is a second-class astro armored ship. Armed with less heavy weapons than the larger Destoria-class Astro Heavy Cruiser, these ships focus heavily on missiles, carrying more torpedoes than any other second-class ship. Their ASC tubes also enable them to serve alongside the Kripitera-class Astro Destroyer in an escort role. Its high speed made it not only suitable for interception and trade route[3] disruption missions, but also perfect for rapid attacks and flanking maneuvers in conjunction with other second-class ships. Due to their relatively simple design, these ships arbe the second most numerous ships in the fleet after the Kripitera, which form the center of the garmilon cruiser fleet.
Although these cruisers proved superior to most of the United Nations Cosmo Navy ships, they were easily destroyed by the heavier weapons of the UNCN's more advanced battleship, Yamato, and inflicted only light damage in return.[4][5]
Two of Kelkapia-class cruisers combined can carry a Wall of Garmillas Subject.[6]
History[]
A Kelkapia during the First Battle of Pluto
The Kelkapia class served in almost every major battle between the Garmillas Astro Fleet and the United Nations. In January 17, 2199, the Teron Attack Force fielded twenty-three Kelkapias uring Operation M.[1]In February of the same year, they were all destroyed during an attack on the Pluto Frontline Base launched by UNCF battleship Yamato.[7] In March, two Kelkapias under the command of Major General Gremdt Goer were sucked were sucked into a dimensional rift during the Skirmish Outside of the Dimensional Rift.[8]
Hundreds of Kelkapia from the 6th Armored Space Division under the command of Admiral Erich Domel participated in the Battle of the Small Magellanic Cloud Outskirts against the Gatlantis Empire's forces.[9] Multiple Imperial Guard Kelkapias partook in the Alteria Suppression.[10] Later, various Kelkapias participated in the First Battle against Domel to destroy the Yamato before being forced to retreat due to the orders of Vice Leader Redof Hiss.[11] On May 14,[12] the bulk of the Garmillas Empire's naval forces, including a vast number of Kelkapias, gathered at the Balun Military Base fto attend a naval review cerimony and were caught up in the Planet Balun Breakthrough Operation.[13]

three Keklkapia in Terezart
On June 15,[12] one of the Imperial Guard's Keklkapia was destroyed while pursuing the Yamato through Garmillas's Imperial Capital.[14] In August,[15] four Keklkapias under the command of Brigadier General Basiv Vandevel were destroyed by a surprise attack by a Gatlantean fleet. Three Keklkapia part of the 8th Security Fleet disappeared to the mysterious planet Shambleau and were destroyed in a battle against Gatlantis. On September 21,[16] nine Keklkapias participated in the Battle with Desler in Subspace.[17][18]
After the fall of the Desler administration, several Keklkapia ships that were originally part of the Guards Astro Fleet and Imperial Guard went AWOL along with ships from the regular forces.[19] These warships eventually fell under the control of Lieutenant General Ghader Talan and rendezvoused with the fallen Supreme Leader Desler.[20] These ships would remain at Desler's service for the remainder of the Garmillas Civil War and Gatlantis Campaign and later follow him in his search for a new home planet for the Garmillas race in collaboration with the Garmillas Provisional Government.[20][21][22][23][24] On June 2, 2203, hundreds of Garmillas ships including various Keklkapias fought against Gatlantis during the Golem Assault Battle.[25]
