Space Battleship Yamato Wiki

The Invasion of Planet Terezart[2] was an assault carried out by the Gatlantis Empire to take control of Terezart. Great Emperor Zworder of Gatlantis intended to use the power of the goddess Teresa for his goal of laying destruction to all human species.

For eons, the goddess Teresa of Terezart, the collective of the souls of the original inhabitants of Terezart left over after they ascended, guided the actions of many humans throughout the cosmos.[3] Her knowledge of the future and the mystical characteristics of her home were narrated by the myths of multiple human species, with some becoming worshippers of the goddess and making Terezart their home.[3][1]

Since about the 13th century, the warring nation of Gatlantis had begun carrying out a series of campaigns to eradicate human life from the universe,[4] and in 2202, their eyes fell on Terezart, intending to obtain and control Teresa and her planet's powers.[1]

The Battle[]

Sometime in 2202, the White Comet, the Gatlantis Empire's mobile capital, approached Terezart and launched a massive fleet to besiege the planet. Two Gostoke-class Missile Battleships bombarded the Terezarium, Teresa's sanctuary and the only place where communication between the goddess' dimension and regular space was possible. A fighter squadron then released dozens of Needleslaves into the Terezarium, that proceeded to wipe out the Planet Terezart Monks.[1]

Headed by their Archpriest, the pacifist monks tried to set up two lines of defense inside the sanctuary, using their own bodies to shield the holy location. However, they were all massacred with ease by Gatlantis's automated machines.[1]

As the monks were butchered, Emperor Zworder of Gatlantis inquired with Teresa, deeming her followers' sacrifice to be meaningless and asking her if she believed anything could be worth throwing away one's life in such a manner.[1]

Aftermath[]

After Gatlantis's attack, Teresa sent a telepathic message towards planet Earth, aimed at the former crewmembers of the battleship Yamato.[1][5] To trace a path toward the most optimal future, one where Gatlantis would be defeated, they were to come to her planet to liberate it from their occupation.[6] The message would later be intercepted by the empire, bringing them to select Earth as their next target.[5]

The Gatlantis Empire then started to extract energy from Terezart and use it to create new weaponry.[7] They also began to assemble a rocky cage around the planet, by carrying there pieces of other world's crusts, in an effort to isolate the planet completely. The task of guarding the occupied planet and complete the encagement was given to the Gorland Fleet, while the Zurvival Land Division was stationed on the planet's surface, inside of the basin of an ocean that had evaporated after the previous bombing.[8]
