This article is about the missile seen in Space Battleship Yamato 2199 and its sequels. For its counterpart in the original Space Battleship Yamato, see Super Large Missile.
The interplanetary ballistic missile, also referred to as the giant missile,[3] is a type of missile used by the Greater Garmillan Empire for long-range attacks and heavy bombardment.
Technical specifications[]

An interplanetary ballistic missile is fired from an underground silos at the Pluto Frontline Base
The interplanetary ballistic missile is an enormous missile developed by the Greater Garmillan Empire and is capable of pinpointing specific targets to attack from interplanetary distances. Its surface rapidly spins during space flight[1] and it can be suspended over a target by its control mechanism.[4] The interplanetary ballistic missile is usually stored in underground silos but it can be transported by spaceships.[4][5]
History[]

Alteria is bombarded with interplanetary ballistic missiles
Various interplanetary ballistic missiles were stationed at the Pluto Frontline Base during the Great Garmillas War. Colonel Schulz of the Teron Attack Force used one to destroy a supposed new Earthling weapon in February of 2199,[6] but it was shot down by the battleship Yamato.[1] All other interplanetary ballistic missiles were destroyed during Operation M2.[5] The Imperial Guard used multiple interplanetary ballistic missiles during their suppression of the rebellion on planet Alteria in April of 2199.[7][8]

Stravase is hit by multiple interplanetary ballistic missiles
By December 29, 2202,[6] the Anti-Garmillas Rule Destruction Liberation Army, a Garmillas rebel organization, had obtained dozens of interplanetary ballistic missiles. They were detonated in a battle against the Yamato and the Desler Regime Revivalists, leading to the collapse of planet Stravase.[4][9]
In 2205, the Simple Urban Immigration Ship utilizes four interplanetary ballistic missiles as part of its propulsion system.[10]
Notes[]
- The Space Battleship Yamato 2199 manga shows that the rapidly spinning surface of the missile allows it to resist hits from beam weapons.[11]
