Grand Chief Commissioner Goran "Thunder" Dagam of the Gatlantis Empire launched a hunt for the World of Tranquillity, Shambleau, in late 2199. Dagam had been tasked by Great Emperor Zworder to hunt down and capture the Archelian ark, and was given command of a personal fleet of warships to sieze in it in Gatlantis's name. However, when the Governor's fleet met the Earthling battleship Yamato, his objective changed to the capture of the ship.
Eventually both Yamato and the gatlanteans reached the World of Tranquillity where the Earthlings allied themselves with a ragtag group of Garmillan soldiers to fight against their common enemy.
Prelude[]
Sometime before August 2199,[2] Goran "Thunder" Dagam, a Gatlantean bandit from a lowly caste, caught the eye of Great Emperor Zworder of Gatlantis for his ability, and was appointed Grand Chief Commissioner of the Gutaba Area,[4] the Small Magellanic Cloud, an area of space contested between the Gatlantis Empire and the Greater Garmillan Empire.[5][6][7]
Dagam was given command of the Gutaba Expedition Group, his mission was to hunt down and capture the Archelian ark known as "The World of Tranquility". He was to report directly to the Chief Minister of the Empire, Sifar Saberah.[1]
The War[]
Zoellik's ghost[]

In August 2199,[2] the news of the fall of the Desler Administration reached the remaining forces of the Zoellik Faction which were forced into exile after their failed attempt to take over the empire [8]. As soon as Brigadier General Basiv Vendevel, now commander of the Zoellik forces, heard the news, his rejoicement was interrupted by a sudden attack by Dagam's flagship Megaruda. The battle that ensued was easily won by the Grand Chief Commissioner due to his usage of the Flame Strike Gun, a devastating new weapon which had been developed by garmillan science-slaves for the Gatlantis. In just a few shots the entirity of the garmillas fleet, including the powerfull Zoellugut II, was wiped away.[1]
Dagam meets Yamato[]

Grand Chief Commissioner Dagam threatens Yamato over a video message
On August 27,[9] Dagam encountered the Earthling space battleship Yamato during the ship's journey to return from Iscandar. Since he hadn't had any luck in locating the Ark, Dagam's objective immediately shifted to the capture of the enemy vessel, which the Gatlanteans knew as the one that had annhilated Garmillas, to offer it as a present to the Great Emperor.[1]
Following a brief video conversation with Yamato's Tactics Officer Lieutenant Susumu Kodai, in which he ordered the earthlings to either surrender or die, Dagam ordered the bulk of his forces to attack and fired Megaruda's Flame Strike Gun in an attempt to force his enemy to surrender. Kodai, not wanting to engage in direct combat, ordered Yamato to flee and hide in the nearby planet of Kappadokia. On the planet both sides were attacked by the autochthonous creatures known as Medulas which fed on the energy of the ships which were engaging near their hive-like dens. Yamato menaged to break free of the creatures by emergency warping away from the planet.[1]
The World of Tranquillity[]

The hotel as seen from the Garmillas' perspective
As the calculations necessary to warp correctly hadn't been completed, Yamato emerged in an unknown area of space which appeared to be an enclosed void, there the controls of the ship began moving on their own and the ship was docked near a seemingly artificial monument of gigantic proportions which orbited around a lone ringed planet at the center of the void.[1]

The Hotel as seen from the earthlings' perspective
In reality the mysterious planet was the World of Tranquillity itself, Shambleau, an holy location for the thought to be extinct Zirellan race. There a group of pilgrims had taken refuge after the destruction of their home planet and lived in isolation. In an effort to keep their planet secret the Zirellans routinely trapped all gatlantean explorators on Shambleau and, through the usage of illusions, they put them against each other in order to neutralise them, the same had happened with the garmillan Eighth Security fleet, which had been lured to the enclosed void and was seating on the other side of the same structure as Yamato. The garmillas had sent a recon team lead by Lt. Commander Fomt Berger on the planet's ground, but it had remained stranded inside of a structure similar to a Garmillan hotel after the Zirel made the doors disappear.[1]
A similar faith awaited the Earthlings as their own recon team lead by Kodai descended onto Shambleu's surface. After following a distress signal sent by Berger's team the group remained stuck in the same structure which, due to the psychic power of the Zirel, appeared to them as a regular Earth hotel. While this was happening Shambleau's athmosphere was covered by a mysterious black structure, further separating the landing teams from their respective ships and blocking all communications.[1]

Berger threatens to shoot Kodai
The two teams spent what to them seemed like a week trapped on the planet, with the earthlings doing their best to pose as Zaltzi and not reveal their identity to the garmillans, however among the group was an infiltrator, the Zirel priestess Loerelai Loer who was posing as the 8th fleet's commander Neredia Ricke with the intention of seeding doubt and mistrusts among the prisoners. Her plan came to fruition when she revealed the true origin of the earthlings to Lieutenant J.G. Klim Melhe who was already going mad due to the lack of food. This reveal almost caused a shootout between Berger and Kodai, as the Garmillan lt. commander, who was an underling of an admiral who had perished in battle against Yamato, had developed a deep hatred of the earthling battleship. However Berger realised that the one who was with them was not the real Ricke and turned on her, causing Loer to reveal her identity and the nature of Shambleau.[1]
Battle of Shambleau[]

As these events unfolded, the Gatlantean forces lead by Dagam had managed to locate Yamato's warp signature and traced it, following the ship to Shambleau. Grand Chief Commissioner Dagam, who had previously been humiliated and reprimanded by CHief Minister Saberah for not being successfull in his mission, happily reported to her that he had finally located the World of Tranquillity, but was told that he couldn't engage with the enemy forces in the area in order to not damage the precious world. He immediately broke into a fit of rage and then ordered his ships to attack the planet's black cover. which was protecting it from external interference.[1]

the earth-garmillas joint fleet prepares for combat
After the two landing teams returned to their respective forces, Yamato and the Eighth Security Fleet began a joint effort to defend the Zirels' holy world from the ruthless Gatlantean invaders. During the battle, Kodai took command of Yamato and Berger took command of the Mirangal, Ricke's flagship, in place of the real Colonel who remained stationed on the already heavily damaged carrier Lamvea.[1]
The combined joint Earth-Garmillan forces engaged in an intense firefight with the Gatlanteans, both sides taking heavy loses. The battle turned against Dagam's forces, and in frustration, the Grand Chief Commissioner broke away and headed directly towards Shambleau. With Dagam selfishly abbandoning the frontline to pursue his own goal, Captain Isla "Gale” Paracas of the Kiska assumed command of the fleet and ordered his remaining forces to withdraw. During the battle, Lamvea had remained trapped in the planet's transforming surface, exactly in the line of Megaruda's descent. At Berger's urgent request, the Yamato quickly rushed to protect the incapacitated ally, engaging Dagam's flagship once more. The Earthling battleship finished off the Megaruda with a crippling blow, killing Dagam, and the shock-wave of the explosion broke through the structure holding Lamvea, setting it free.[1]
Aftermath[]
By the end of the battle only Lamvea and Yamato were left, with the entirity of the Eighth Security Fleet, including the Mirangal, destroyed, but Berger miraculously still alive. Shambleau fully reawakened as the "Ark of the Stars", returning to its original form and starting a journey through the cosmos in search of a new homeworld for the Zirellan Pilgrims. The Earthling and Garmillas crews exchanged a brief farewell salute, before heading to their respective home planets.[1]
Years later, in December 2202, Emperor Zworder and his court reviewed footage from the Battle of Shambleau as the Battle of the eleventh planet raged on.[10]
