I am Goer! I am Gremdt Goer!!

—Gremdt Goer's last words[1]

Major General Gremdt Goer was a Garmillas senior military officer in the Imperial Garmillas Defense Force. A member of the Zoellik Faction, he served as Galactic Theater Operations Commander for most of the Great Garmillas War, and had his seat at the Balun Military Base. However, following various failed attempts to stop the Earthling battleship Yamato, he was demoted in favor of Colonel General Elk Domel.

Following Domel's arrest in May of 2199, he resumed command of the forces located at Balun, and personally executed Imperial Marshall Herm Zoellik when he attempted a coup-d'etàt against Supreme Leader Abelt Desler. Following the Planet Balun Breakthrough Operation he led his forces toward planet Garmillas, but after Supreme Leader Desler's fall from power, he defied the central government's orders and sided with his exiled forces.

He was killed in action during the Battle with Desler in Subspace.

Biography[]

Early life and carreer[]

Gremdt Goer was born around 2152, and eventually rose to the rank of Major General. He ingratiated himself with Imperial Marshall Herm Zoellik, the Inspector General of the Central Army and one of the most powerful figures in the Imperial Garmillas Defense Force, and became a central member of Zoellik's faction. In return, Zoellik ensured that Goer was appointed as the operations commander for the Galactic Theater,[2] the military front in an ongoing war against planet Earth.[3]

With the post of Provincial Governor for the Milky Way Galaxy currently vacant and managed by the central government, Goer planned to leverage his position as commander of the Milky Way forces to secure that office for himself.[2] He directed the war effort from the Balun Military Base;[4] however, his opportunism and incompetence earned him the disdain of his subordinates in the field.[5]

Hologram Goer talks with Schulz

Goer talks with Schulz via hologram

In February of 2199, Colonel Valcke Schulz, the Zaltzi commander of the Teron Attack Force currently besieging Earth from the dwarf planet Pluto, reported to Goer that an Earthling battleship had successfully performed warp flight and had destroyed one of their floating continents. Initially, Goer struggled to believe this report and angrily informed Schulz that he could not share such news with Imperial Headquarters. He implied that he would only report the information when they had evidence of the battleship's destruction. He also suggested that, should they succeed, he would put in a good word for Schulz and his second-in-command to be promoted to first-class citizens.[5]

After another encounter, Schulz and Goer reviewed footage of the Earthling vessel, which they discovered was named Yamato. Goer commented on its ungracious shape, and when Schulz mentioned that the battleship would likely attack their base next, Goer laughed, saying it would be a good opportunity for his men to prove their worth before hanging up.[6]

Operations at Gliese 581[]

The Pluto base fell on February 14, 2199,[7] but Schulz managed to survive. Under orders from Supreme Leader Abelt Desler, Goer resupplied the colonel's flagship and gave him a prototype torpedo. The survivors of the battle were to face off against Yamato once more, in an operation devised by Desler himself as entertainment for his guests during the celebrations for the anniversary of the Greater Garmillan Empire.[8] Goer reported to Desler and his ministers and generals via hologram, repeatedly thanking him for giving him command of the operations. Annoyed, the Supreme Leader asked him about the torpedo, and Goer confirmed that it had been delivered to the front lines. He continued to praise Desler and his strategy, impressed that he had been able to calculate that Yamato would pass through the Gliese 581 system.[8]

Goer tries to blame Schulz

After being fired, the torpedo unleashed a gaseous creature to target the Earthlings, but Yamato outmanouvered it and led it to the heart of the system's star, where the creature burned to death. An enraged Goer furiously called Schulz and berated him and his crew blaming the Zaltzi for the operation's failure. However, Schulz shut down the communication before driving his ship toward the star. Goer tried to apologize to Desler and blame Schulz for the defeat, but to his surprise, the Supreme Leader disconnected the comms link on him too.[8]

Hunting down the Yamato[]

Zoellik chastises Goer

Zoellik chastises Goer and orders him to sink the Yamato

After the battle, Zoellik contacted Goer and threatened him with dismissal from his post. He stated that Goer had brought shame to Desler's plan and that since he had recommended him his standing was also jeopardized. Goer attempted to reassure the Imperial Marshall, but Zoellik reminded him that failure was not an option. When the call ended, Lt. Colonel Idel Monk tried to raise the problem of a ship they lost contact with several days ago. Despite his pointing out that an officer of the Imperial Guard was aboard the lost vessel, Goer was only interested in finding the Yamato. He angrily ordered to prepare his fleet and assumed command of the hunt.[4]

Goer later managed to locate the Yamato by following a signal sent by the lost ship. As the fleet warped out in position, he contacted the ship's captain and ordered him to stand aside immediately. When the officer reported that the daughter of Admiral Ditz, Supreme Commander of the Astro Fleet, was currently aboard the Yamato, Goer sadistically decided to open fire regardless. He then adressed Monk, stating that the Yamato had just sunk the ship they were looking for and ordered them to fire against the Earthlings.[4]

Yamato began escaping, and he ordered to pursue it. Suddenly, a dimensional quake opened a rift near the fleet, attracting and destroying many of Goer's ships. He ordered to immediately warp away, despite Monk's pleas to issue a retreat order before doing so.[4]

Service under Domel[]

As Zoellik had promised him, Goer was demoted for his repeated failures and the newly-promoted Colonel General Elk Domel was named commander of the Galactic Theater in his place. Goer met Domel on the Balun base's dockyard, and his new superior informed him he would now serve as deputy commander. The chief of Domel's staff gave him a coded transmission, puzzling Goer. The Colonel General later explained that, at his orders, the prototype dimensional submarine UX-01 had engaged the Yamato. In the base's strategy room, Goer was surprised that Desler would allow Domel to use the ship, but to his shock, he explained that Desler was never informed of the ship's movements, and that he was working with Admiral Ditz's permission only.

Domel then turned to Goer and told him to remember his motto, "adaptability before all else", which the Major General begrudgingly agreed to as his superior's Rokrok landed on his head.

Zoellik's betreyal[]

After Desler's supposely assassination, Zoellik made a grab for power only to have Desler show up on screen to root out the traitor, it was then that Goer changed side and shot the imperial marshal in the back. Unfortunately, the Yamato managed to destroy the power core of Balun which stranded the entire fleet and would take two months to return back to Gamilas.

Journey back home[]

Back in Desler's service[]

When Grand Admiral Dietz ordered all ships to return to Gamilas space, Goer took his 30 loyal warships and followed Desler who survive the implosion to setup a trap for the Yamato. Returning back to Balun, most of his ships were powering the gateway while his command ship and others would jump out and force the Yamato into the gate.

Just as he is closing in on the kill, Lt. Col. Fraken's submarine fired torpedoes destroying one of his escorts before surfacing and announced that there is an order for Goer's arrest where he would be tried and probably executed as a traitor. A now enraged Goer begins hurling insults at Fraken, and continues firing at both the Yamato and the dimensional submarine. Just as the Yamato disappears into the gate, Fraken dives down to which Goer calls him and his crew a coward. Not wanting to capture Goer, Fraken fires a full spread of torpedoes which destroys Goer's battleship and his remaining escorts, along with him, putting and end to the biggest jerk in the galaxy.

Personality[]

Gremdt Goer is a ruthless, yet a filthy liar, who is also a dirty coward at heart, not even hesitating to leave his own ships at one point in order to save his own cowardly hide. But despite these traits he is still loyal to Supreme Leader Abelt Desler to the very end, even if Desler himself found Goer to be an annoyance.
