Golem at the center of the throne room
It sings the song of destruction. It's a yoke, and the most significant key to control the Gatlanteans. Its name is Golem.

Golem is an ancient device built by the Zemurians as a safety mechanism against the Gatlanteans. Once activated, it will instantly kill all Gatlanteans throughout the entirity of the universe. At the time of his uprising, Zworder, unable to destroy it, took it for himself. For the following millennium, Golem laid in the Ark of Destruction, under the Great Emperor's throne.[1]
Overview[]
Golem is a tall floating device with a flat top and a curved surface decorated with crystals and a geometric pattern resembling Archelian architecture. When damaged, Golem began "singing" instantly killing all the Gatlanteans' artificial cells. This essentially meant that the device couldn't be destroyed without activating it. However, if a Gatlantean recognized themselves as a human, they would not be harmed by Golem's song. Upon activation, Golem emitted a beam of red light from its tip.[1][2][3]
Golem was placed inside of the Ark of Destruction at the center of Great Emperor Zworder's throne room and above the Ark's control device.[1]
History[]
The Gatlanteans were created as an artificial race of slaves to the Zemurians, who created Golem as a control mechanism to use against the Gatlanteans in case of revolt. When the first Zworder led a rebellion against the slavers, he immediately seized Golem, but was unable to destroy it without activating it. After he led his people off planet Zemuria, he hid the device inside of his throne room in the Ark of Destruction.[1][4]
Golem is activated by Zworder
In 2203, in the midst of the Gatlantis Campaign, the crew of the Earthling battleship Yamato discovered the existance of Golem, and planned to activate the device to save their homeworld from being conquered by the Gatlantis Empire. An assault team stormed the Emperor's seat, but its commander, Lieutenant Susumu Kodai, first tried to use the device as leverage to negotiate with Zworder, rather than activating it immediately. However, the Great Emperor came to acknowledge his own humanity after seeing his predecessor sacrifice for his sake, and activated Golem himself. Zworder's empire was entirely wiped out, but the sovereign survived and fused with the Ark of Destruction.[1][2][3]
