The Goer Guard Fleet,[4] also called the Goer Fleet,[5] was a fleet of the Galactic Area Army stationed at Balun. It was under the direct command of Major General Gremdt Goer and had the Gaiderol-class Goergametsch as its flagship. Following the fall of the Desler regime the Goer fleet refused to follow Admiral Ditz's stand-down order, instead following the fallen Eternal Supreme Leader Desler in exile. It was hunted down and defeated by the dimensional submarine UX-01.

History[]

The Goer Guard Fleet was the main fleet stationed at the Balun Military Base during Gremdt Goer's time as commander of Galactic Theater operations.[3]

On March, 2199, it took off on a hunt for the earth battleship Yamato, which has broken the empire's lines of defense. Following a message sent by an imperial guard officer, the fleet found and engaged Yamato. However a dimensional quake ended up destroying most of the fleet, with only Goergametsch managing to escape.[3]

The fleet was present at Balun during Herm Zoellik's naval review and in the following battle.[6] Following the battle Goer took command of the 3000 surviving ships, however, due to their different political ideals, the large fleet split up. Goer continued to lead the Goer Fleet and eventually managed to meet with Supreme Leader Abelt Desler , who in the meantime had lost his throne and had gone into self imposed exile.[1][7][8]

Part of the fleet's ships decided to follow the remnants of the Zoellik faction lead by Brigadier General Vandevel and were destroyed in a skirmish by a gatlantean fleet.[9]

The remaining 30 ships of the Goer Fleet were lead by Goer to Balun, where under Desler's orders they took part in the Battle with Desler in Subspace against Yamato. They were however reached by the Dimensional Submarine UX-01, that had been deployed by the new garmillan government to hunt down all fleets who hadn't accepted to stand down and return to the capital. Goergametsch was sunk in the subsequent battle and Goer was killed in action.[1]

Composition[]

Notes[]

  • All ships in the fleet are painted with a unique striped camouflage[3][4][5]
  • According to the novel Space Battleship Yamato 2199, together the ships stationed at Balun and the 6th Armored Space Division amount to 500 warships in total[10]

  2. in The Forever War two contrasting dates are given for the Battle with Desler in Subspace, 2 months after Yamato took off from Iscandar and 8 months after it left Earth. The first would date the battle in September, while the second would set it in October (as per the dates given in The Era of Space Battleship Yamato: Choice of 2202). This is seemingly due to the fact that then production crew erroneously assumed that the took off date from earth was January 17, which is actually the date of Operation M
