On October 3, 2202, the Gatlantis Vanguard Fleet captured the 8th Floating Continent of the Greater Garmillan Empire. On December 2, 2202, aided by the Earth Federation's Special Hybrid Fleet, the Garmillas Frontier Defense Task Force 38 carried out an operation to recapture the 8th Floating Continent. The Gatlantis Vanguard Fleet initially overpowered the combined Earth-Garmillas fleet, but it then retreated to the floating continent to draw in the Garmillan forces. A Calaklum-class battleship then emerged from within a large object behind the fleet, and instantly destroyed the Garmillas front fleet with a Lightning rotation gun. After the attack, Earth countered with the battleship Andromeda's Wave-motion Gun, which destroyed the 8th Floating Continent including the entire Gatlantis Vanguard Fleet. The wreck of the Calaklum ship was discovered by Andromeda but, shortly after the Earth cruisers Saratoga and Defiant warp returned to Earth, the Calaklum ship activated again and followed the two cruisers towards Earth. Before the Calaklum could launch itself on a suicide run against the Earth Federation capital, the battleship Yunagi warped behind it. while Yunagi's cannons were not enough to damage the advanced battleship, it sent the coordinates of the approaching enemy to the battleship Yamato, which managed to destroy the Calaklum before it could hit the Earth.[1]

Legacy[]

Later, Chancellor Sifar Saberah of the Gatlantis Empire used the last known position of the Calaklum, as well as the direction of a transmission sent by the goddess Teresa of Terezart, to identify the location of the Earth.[3]
