Fleur is a Dezarian larva and the daughter of the non-standard civil servant Maxim. Since the Dezariam Invasion of Earth, she's living in the Earth of the year 2207.
She is enrolled as a first-grade student at Ichigyo Elementary School in the same class as Tsubasa Kato.
Biography[]
Early life and settling the Earth[]
Fleur was born in the 32nd century in Dezariam. Like all Dezarian larvae, her brain was created from random genes by Mother Dezariam, implanted in a biotechnological body, and she was assigned to her father, Maxim,[2] a non-standard Dezarian.[3]
Alfon talks with Fleur
In 3199, Dezariam enacted the Earth Occupation Plan, and a number of Dezarians were transferred to planet Earth in the year 2207. Fleur and Maxim were among the colonists. Upon landing on Earth, they were greeted by Major Alfon, a long-time friend of Maxim.[1]
At some point, Maxim took her to the beach near the New Capital and urged her to look at beautiful things multiple times so that she could find new details each time.[4]
Enrolling at Ichigyo Elementary School[]
Fleur was among the 800 Dezarian children enrolled in Earthling schools in the New Capital to further integration between Dezarians and Earthlings.[4] She joined Ichigyo Elementary School as a first-year student.[5]
Fleur gives Tsubasa his textbook back after memorizing it in seconds
Upon being introduced by Yoshiro Kosaka, her classmate Tsubasa Kato shared his textbook with her. She rapidly memorized the entire text, attracting her classmate’s attention. After returning the book, she asked Kato if she was supposed to thank him at a time like this.[4]
After class, Fleur began handing out Com-Medals to other students, but she became a target for a group of bullies who knocked them out of her hands. Feeling bad for her, Kato asked to take one. This started a fight between him and the bullies, which took Fleur by surprise. She and Maxim later watched as Kato was taken home by his mother, Makoto.[4]
Some time later, Fleur was asked to make a drawing in class, and she created a photorealistic picture of a building. Upon being told by Kosaka that, when drawing, she had the freedom to create whatever she wanted, she sat down beside Kato and started to draw him. Her drawing, which depicted Kato in front of other figures representing her bullies, made Kato laugh, which in turn made Fleur happy.[6]
After class, she and Maxim once again went to the beach, where she happily enjoyed the sunlight. Some time later, she distributed Com-Medals in front of her school again, and other children took many of them, to her surprise. She and Kato then witnessed an explosion in the distance, triggered by a terrorist attack.[6]
Trip with the Kato family[]
Some time later, Fleur was given a new body on her birthday. The following day, she and her father visited Hero’s Hill, a memorial for various deceased Earth Defense Force soldiers, including Kato’s father. There, she met Kato, who was surprised that she was suddenly taller than him. The two children prayed in front of the memorial, as Fleur wanted Kato to teach her about graves, something foreign to Dezarian culture.[3]
After a brief conversation with Makoto Kato, Maxim agreed to let Fleur go on a trip to Hokkaido with the Kato family to visit the temple of Tsubasa’s paternal grandfather, Ittetsu.[3]
Tsubasa and Fleur play outside
There, the two children played together. Fleur greatly enjoyed Makoto’s cooking, tasting Earthling food for the first time. She spent time outside in nature, especially looking at animals.[3]
Fleur talking with Ittetsu Kato
One evening, she sat down with the family as Ittetsu talked about his son, Saburo Kato—Tsubasa’s father—who had died young during the Gatlantis Campaign. While he believed Saburo had lived a fulfilling life, he was saddened that he hadn’t lived long enough to waste time. Ittetsu praised the Dezarians’ willingness to travel back in time and rewrite history—even though they assumed that changing the past for the better would erase their existence—but wondered if they couldn’t simply find a way to accept the future and live on. Tearing up, Ittetsu stated that he didn’t want to see any more young people die. This, in turn, made Fleur cry, and she was surprised at her own tears.[3]
Later that night, while they sat in their futons, Fleur asked Tsubasa why he refused to cry—something she had noticed both during the talk with Ittetsu and during Kato’s fight with the bullies. He replied that he wouldn’t cry so as not to sadden his mother.[3]
Terorist attack at the Ageha Museum[]
Fleur asks Tsubasa to dance
Some time later, the Dezarian and Earth governments held a party at the Ageha Museum of Art. Fleur and Maxim were in attendance, and Maxim invited Makoto and Tsubasa Kato. At the party, Fleur immediately ran to Kato, much to his embarrassment. She also danced and invited him to dance with her, but he was hesitant to accept.[7]
As a concert started, the two sneaked away to the second floor to get a better view, and Fleur took off her Com-Medal so that her father couldn’t see her. Unbeknownst to the children, bombs had been planted on the floor and were set to detonate, in an effort by Dezariam to alienate the Earthlings from the anti-Dezarian resistance by blaming them for the terrorist attack.[7]
Alfon carries Tsubasa and Fleur to safety before the explosion
Knowing the plan, Maxim asked Alfon to rescue them. The man rushed to save the two, carried them away, and threw them from a window into the hands of a multi-legged tank right before the building erupted into flames. Fleur and Kato reunited with their parents, and Fleur informed Maxim that Alfon had remained in the building. However, the major survived.[7]
In the aftermath of the terrorist attack, the Earth public was sent into a frenzy, and many began to wear Com-Medals. A crowd knocked Fleur’s Com-Medals from her hands and rushed to grab them. She and Kato stood by the side watching the group.[7]
Appearance[]
Fleur in her usual clothing
Fleur is a young Dezarian girl with light grey skin and purple eyes. Her hair is black, it's shoulder-length and styled in bangs. She used to be shorter than Tsubasa Kato, but after her birthday she moved her mind in a body that's slightly taller than him.[1]
She usually wears a blalck dress with a dark red ribbon on the chest over a dark purple bodysuit which ends in black boots.[4] She also owns a white Dezarian robe she wears over the bodysuit and with white boots.[1]
Fleur dances in her party dress
When playing outside in the snow, she wore a pink fur-lined coat with a hoodie with fake cat ears. With the coat, she wore fur-lined boots of the same color. While staying at Ittetsu Kato's temple, she also wore a plain pink shirt with a black skirt and dark purple tights.[3]
At the party at the Ageha Museum of Art, she kept her hair tied up in a pink bow. She also wore a pink dress.[7]
She usually has a Com-Medal at the base of her neck, like other Dezarians.[1]
Personality[]
Like many Dezarians, prior to her encounter with humans of the 23rd century, Fleur’s emotions were rather subdued.[1] She was generally silent and showed only slight responses[1] to the beauty of Planet Earth or to her interactions with other people.[4]
Fleur is surprised at her own tears after talking with Ittetsu Kato
Her interactions with humans, especially the young Tsubasa Kato, greatly awakened her emotions,[4] and she became more playful and open.[3][7] She began to enjoy nature,[6] particularly animals, and developed a strong liking for Earthling cooking.[3]
She has not lived long enough to nurture evil, and in a sense, she is very honest. She accepts everything as it is.[2]
By observing the young Kato, she is learning the subtleties of human interaction.[2] She has developed a strong friendship with the boy[7] and has been able to see and question his refusal to cry. She has become more in touch with her emotions through her interactions with Kato’s family, especially after speaking with his grandfather, the monk Ittetsu Kato.[3]
Fleur has a good relationship with her father, Maxim, and with her father’s best friend, Alfon.[1]

Behind the scenes[]
Fleur is portrayed by Hitomi Isaka.[2]
Her name is rendered as Frulul in the English subtitles. However, this spelling is not only incosistent with the Japanese フルール (Furūru)[1], it's also disproven in official merch, which translitterates the name as "Fleur".[8]
