The First Fleet was a fleet of the United Nations Cosmo Navy under the Combined Cosmo Fleet's Far East Front Aerospace Battlegroup that operated during the Garmillas War until early 2199. Ships coming from all remaining UNCN units fought as part of the First Fleet in its final battle,[2] Operation M, led by the flagship Kirishima under the command of Admiral Juzo Okita. During the battle the fleet served as a diversion so that the Iscandarian vessel Sheherezade could safely reach Mars. At the end of the battle only the Isokaze-class Space Assault Destroyer Yukikaze and the Kirishima were still standing, under orders from its captain, Lt. Commander Mamoru Kodai, Yukikaze would sacrifice itself to cover the flagship's retreat.[1]
