Elisa Domel is the wife of Admiral Erich Domel. After her husband's passing, Domel becomes a leading figure in the Garmillas Civil War and in the provisional government following the fall of Abelt Desler.
History[]
Early Life[]
While she was growing up, Elisa spent a great amount of time with her father, a diplomat in the service of the Greater Garmillan Empire. Among the many things she learned from him was the proper protocol for greeting and interacting with royalty of the planet Iscandar. She went on to accomplishments of her own as an adult.[5][1]
She eventually met and married an up-and-coming military officer, Erich Domel, and gave birth to a son, Johann.[6] The boy's death only a few years later brought lasting pain to Elisa and Elk. Elk was regularly assigned to battles far away from Garmillas, keeping the two apart from one another. During this time, Elisa joined an underground movement working to undermine the regime, and kept the fact of it hidden from her husband, even during his last brief reunion with her at their child's grave site.[4][7]
Enemy of the State[]

Domel watches security forces arriving outside her home.
One evening, Domel gave shelter to a suspected rebel who was being chased by security forces through the streets of Baleras. She watched from an upstairs window as Imperial Guard and National Security Police personnel converged on her house. Despite their initial hesitation about entering the home of such a prominent family, Domel was arrested. The following night, as she waited to board a prison transport ship along with other suspected dissidents, she saw an Imperial Guard soldier preparing to shoot a family making a desperate run for freedom and pushed him aside at the last second. Another soldier silenced her with a blow to the back, and the fleeing family was gunned down. With her husband having been charged with an even more serious crime, no one could come to her aid.[7][8]
Domel was imprisoned on Prison Planet 17. During her captivity, she sensed the Elk's death during the Battle of the Rainbow Star Cluster.[9]
Eventually, an opportunity for freedom presented itself. More than a month after arriving on the planet, Domel was pressed into service to assist with a surprise visit from a supposed princess of Iscandar who was being transported to Garmillas. She greeted the woman with the proper rituals and convinced her to change out of her alien uniform into proper Iscandarian attire. A short time later, an uprising was initiated by dissidents in the Garmillas military loyal to another high-ranking prisoner, Admiral Gul Ditz. The prison personnel were overwhelmed, and Domel was liberated.[1] Along with Ditz, the admiral's daughter, and others, she met with the command officers of the Yamato, an Earthling vessel who were also fighting the forces of Supreme Desler, in an attempt to build an alliance. The alien officers were accompanied by the true princess of Iscandar, Yurisha, and Domel was able to confirm that the woman who had been brought to the planet before was their kidnapped shipmate. Domel then joined Ditz in a campaign to liberate more prison worlds.[2]
The New Garmillas[]

Domel and the provisional government in late 2203
Two months after Desler's regime had been toppled, Domel and Admiral Ditz remained together as they led the empire in its transition to a new era. She and Ditz met with Yurisha aboard the admiral's ship.[3]
Four years later, Domel was still part of the Garmillas Provisional Government. She stood alongside her fellow officials as they prepared to meet with Desler and his remaining supporters to bring an end to the civil war and begin collaboration between their two factions.[10]
Appearance[]
Elisa Domel is a Garmillan woman with a sharp face and grey-green eyes. She has long blonde hair that she usually[2] keeps tied back, either in a ponytail or a bun,[1][7] with two strands falling in front of her ears.[5]

Elisa Domel in her black coat
She often wore a black coat with a tall collar adorned with grey decorations. The inside of the collar was orange. Her outfit was completed with a tall black hat featuring similar grey details, a long black skirt with frills at the hem, purple crystal earrings, and high-heeled black boots.[4][2] In 2203, while serving in the Garmillas Provisional Government, she donned an identical outfit, but in red.[10]
In everyday life,[6] she wears a form-fitting gown, predominantly dark blue, with green and orange accents that create a flowing pattern along the sides. The dress features a halter neckline with a high collar and a deep, plunging cut at the chest. The back is almost entirely open, exposing her shoulders and lower back. The skirt extends down to her ankles, and she wears green sandals that match the accents on her outfit. With it, she wears a purple headband that keeps her hair in place, along with matching green armbands on both forearms.[7]
While serving as a maid for the impostor Yurisha, she wore a dark brown dress adorned with lighter intricate details. The dress featured a high collar and a sleeveless design, complemented by long, fitted gloves that extended up her arms, integrating seamlessly with the overall look. She also wore matching dark boots underneath the dress.[2] pink earrings, and an angular white cravat.[1]
On one occasion, when playing with her son, she wore a white dress with a matching hat.[11]
Personality[]

Elisa Domel joins other members of the resistance against Abelt Desler aboard Yamato.
Domel presents herself with dignity, compassion, and intelligence in all situations, the product of her diplomat father's influence.[1][8] Her desire to serve the people of Garmillas is evident in her decision to join the resistance against Abelt Desler, even while her husband continues to lead campaigns of conquest ordered by the ruler she seeks to depose.[7][2] In her personal life, she grieves for her son long after losing him. Elisa's affection for Elk is so strong that she instantly knew about his death the moment it happens, while sitting in her prison cell light years away from him.[9] Like her husband, Domel has a close relationship with the family's rokhrok.[4][3]
Manga[]

Elisa Domel at the house party
In the manga adaptation for Star Blazers 2199, Elisa Domel's arrest occurs under different circumstances. She is attending a house party with other members of Garmillas' elite society, all of whom are part of the underground opposition to Desler's regime, celebrating what they believe to be Desler's assassination. When a fugitive, trying to escape from the Imperial Guard, knocks on her door, she attempts to help him. However, the others urge her to hold back, fearing that her actions may expose their involvement in the opposition. Elisa only opens the door after the fugitive is shot down. Unfortunately, the fact that the fugitive sought help at her door raises the Imperial Guard's suspicion, leading to her investigation.[12]
