The Earth Federation Army (E.F. Army), formerly known as the United Nations Ground Force, is the army branch of the Earth Federation Defense Force.

The Earth Federation Army is a Earth Federation Defense Force service branch. It operates three divisions: The Infantry Division, Armored Division, and the Air Wing. Due to the destruction of most Ground Force assets during the Garmillan bombardment of the Earth from 2192 to 2199, the role of ground and air defense of the planet was passed to the UN Cosmo Force, the only branch of the U.N.F. still standing by the last year of the 22nd century.[1][3]
History[]
The United Nations Ground Force is a branch of the U.N.F. and played a major role in the organization until the start of the Great Garmillas War, during which most of the Ground Force's assets were destroyed during the bombings of Earth carried out by the aliens from 2193 up until 2199. This, paired with the star-faring nature of the enemy, helped the United Nations Cosmo Navy to rise to a place of prominence in the joint forces.[1]
The Cosmo Falcon was developed by the Ground Force
Sometime before 2199 the UN ground force, together with the Far East Front Aerospace Battlegroup, and the Space Technical Arsenal jointly developed the Type-99 space attack fighter aircraft, commonly referred to as the Cosmo Falcon. Originally the fighter was intended to serve as an interceptor for the defense of Earth's absolute defense perimeter[1]. However, it became the Yamato's carrier-based fighter due to delays in the mass production of the Cosmo Navy's Type-0 Cosmo Zero.[4] The ground force also developed the Type-100 Space Reconnaissance Plane.[5]
By 2207, the UN Ground Force had officially changed its name to Earth Federation Army. By that year it had also developed a ground-based variant of the Cosmo Tiger II fighter, which is currently in the process of replacing the Cosmo Falcon as its main fighter plane, and had began to deploy the Garmillas Saruba S-VI Type Heavy Tank. Various E.F. Army Saruba S-VI took part in the defense against Dezariam in the Invasion of the Ground Reverse.[6][2]
