The Dezariam Army is the military of the country of Dezariam, which hails from the 32nd century but has travelled back in time to their lost homeworld, planet Earth, in the year 2207.

The Dezariam Army is a powerful military force, equipped with extremely developed technologies based on phase energy. Its naval forces are feared internationally in their original spacetime, and are known with the nickname of "Black fleet".

Organization

The Dezariam Army is the military branch of Dezariam. It includes various subdivisions, such as the Intelligence Division.

The Dezariam Army is led by Dezariam's holy leader Skulldart. Sada serves as the holy leader's personal assistant.

Naval organization

A Golba Class space fortress

Before the Iscandar Transfer Plan in 3197, the Dezariam Army organized its naval fleet around a space fortress of the Golba Class, which acted as a mobile headquarters. Ships of the Pleiades-class or Modified Pleiades-class functioned as flagships for smaller fleets. While this standard operational plan is still in use, a new operational plan was drafted after the Iscandar Incident, which shifted the mobile headquarters functions to the Grodez-class Annihilation Battleship. This change transformed Dezarian fleets into formations that resemble the space fleets of the 22nd and 23rd centuries.

History

Origins

Following the opening of the spatial rift on Saturn and the Great Loss, a century of research would lead to the development of phase armor. Around 3100, by applying it to surviving ships, the Dezariam Army developed the Pleiades-class and the Golba Class. Dezariam's new naval forces becamed fear as the "Black fleet" because of their color, and allowed the country to gain prominence in the new interstellar political scene.

The Iscandar Incident

In order to create a Cosmo Reverse System and heal their dying Earth, in 3197 Dezariam enacted the Iscandar Transfer Plan. The Dezariam Army dispatched Supreme Commander Meldarz's Magellan Dispatch Force to bring planet Iscandar toward Dezariam's eponymous homeland in order to fulfil their "thousand-years dream". To do so, the fleet attacked and destroyed its double planet, Garmillas, starting a conflict with the forces of the Greater Garmillan Empire aided by the Earth Federation's 65th Escort Corps. The war ended with the destruction of Iscandar and of the entire Magellan Dispatch Force.

Taking over the Earth

The Grodez, lead ship of its class

After the failures of the Iscandar Transfer Plan, the History Revision Plan was drafted, which sought to establish contact with the Earth Federation of the 23rd century and heal the spatial rift before it could manifest. Additionally, the data gathered during the previous conflict led Dezariam to rediscover the naval organization of space fleets of the past. With these new information, the Dezariam Army developed the Grodez-class Annihilation Battleship and drafted a new operational plan for its naval forces.

When the E.F. ignored Dezariam's messages, a plan to take over the Earth through military force was put in place. The Ground Reverse, a space fortress thought to be a crude reconstruction of a Cosmo Reverse was also dispatched. If the Earthlings refused to cooperate, the Dezarians would activate the fortress' Hyperon Bomb functions and wipe away their mental faculties, before connecting them to their bio-network.

In October 2207, the Dezariam Army attacked and occupied the Earth. The Grand Reverse broke through the E.F.'s lines of defense, landing quietly in the New Capital. The Dezariam Army's Ground Forces for Earth Domination then began an invasion to take over the planet.

In accordance with the 2207 Earth Occupation Plan, the occupational forces, led by General Kazan, began collaborating with the Earth government, which declared Dezariam a special advisory organization. This allowed the Dezariam Army to take over the regular functions of the military and the state. Officers were appointed to oversee the occupation's various areas, such as Intelligence Division Major Alfon for the Far East.

Hunting the fragments of Iscandar

Meanwhile, Dezariam's strategy AI Mother Dezariam put in place a secret plan to capture the so-called "fragments of Iscandar", two elements that could be used to restore the technology of the Iscandarian civilization and stop the spatial tear in their present of 3199. The two fragments were the young Iscandarian-Earthling hybrid Sasha Iscandar Kodai and the space battleship Yamato, which had already opposed Dezariam during the Iscandar Transfer Plan and possessed an original Iscandarian Wave-motion Core.

Only select officers of the Dezariam Army were made aware of this secret mission, such as the captain of the battleship Grodez, Major Ramber, and Major Alfon. After a failed attempt to capture the Yamato before it could take off, the battleship was attacked again by Ramber and the Grodez. Finally, Alfon infiltrated the ship while the Grodez acted as a diversion, and managed to kidnap Iscandar Kodai and bring her to Mother Dezariam.

Around the same time, holy leader Skulldart's assistant Sada and the technical officer Colonel Bressol, seized the Earthling ship Ginga, equipped with a Cosmo Reverse Sytem, and attempted to use the comatose Lieutenant Megumi Kanzaki, who had somehow connected with the CRS, as a bio-device to control it.

• The Space Battleship Yamato 2205 Complete Works show sketches of various Dezarian weapons not yet seen on screen, including a Mop-up Tripod Tank, a Patrol Tank, a Disc-type Fighter Jet and a Saucer-type Bomber.

Behind the scenes

The Dezariam Army first appeared in Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 2205, but was only named through the official Starblazers-yamato.net website with the release of Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 3199. Curiously, all Dezariam characters where listed under "Dezariam Army" prior to the release of chapter 2: Red Sun Sortie, but were later updated to be listed under "Dezariam".

The nickname "black fleet" given to the Dezarian fleets was also used in the original Be Forever Yamato, and resembles the nickname "black ships", used by the Japanese to refer to Portuguese merchant ships and American warships arriving in Japan in the 16th and 19th centuries respectively.
