The Independent Combat Command Vessel Deusura II Core Ship, also shortened to Independent Command Vessel Deusura II Core Ship and spelled Deusura the 2nd Core Ship, was an indipendent war command ship installed on the battleships Deusura II and Neu Deusura, as well as on a Super Gelvades-Class Astro Transport Ship.
It initially powered Baleras Tower's secret Desler cannon but was removed by Desler during his escape from Baleras at the Battle of the Imperial Capital. It later became his base of operation as part of Deusura II and Neu Deusura during the Battle with Desler in Subspace and the Gatlantis Campaign, before being transfered to a Super Gelvades-Class during the peace time between the Garmillas Provisional Government and the Desler fleet, it was scuttled during the Planet Galman Liberation Operation.
Armaments and Technical Specifications[]
The Deusura II Core Ship was created to serve only as a mobile command unit for the greater Deusura II and as an escape vessel from Baleras Tower, as such it was only equipped with 6 point defense guns and 4 torpedo launchers.[6]
History[]
On Garmillas[]
The Deusura II Core Ship inside of Baleras Tower
The Deusura II Core Ship was created as an escape vessel from the Presidential Office in Baleras and was placed inside Baleras Tower during its construction. The Tower was secretly equipped with a Desler cannon to threaten Iscandar by the aristocrats of the Garmillas Grand Duchy. The Core Ship was to serve as an energy source for the cannon.[7][8]
Industrial Sector 663 being dropped on Baleras
On July 16, 2199,[9] after the earth battleship Yamato crashed into Baleras Tower, the Core Ship took off towards Baleras II under the command of Colonel Harz Lecter on Desler's orders. The Eternal Supreme Leader planned to separate the Tower from the Desler cannon's reactor to stop it from ever being used against Garmillas's twin planet. He would then take control of Baleras II and separate its industrial sector 633 to drop it on Baleras, destroying both the noblemen that had betrayed him and the invading Earthlings.[8][10]
Baleras II explodes
Once Yamato destroyed industrial sector 633, the Supreme Leader tried to fire Baleras II's Desler cannon from Deusura II. However, it had been sabotaged by an Earthling infiltrator and a Zaltz. This caused the entire space fortress to overload and explode, forcing Desler to escape and go into hiding.[10]
Two months later, Desler tried to ambush Yamato aboard Deusura II, but his attack failed, and his flagship was destroyed. The dictator barely managed to flee aboard the Deusura II Core Ship.[11]
Neu Deusura
Serving Gatlantis[]
Desler was rescued by the Gatlantis Empire, which granted him a new fleet and built him a new flagship, Neu Deusura, which became the Deusura II Coreship's new home. Between 2202 and 2203, Desler launched a series of attacks against Yamato under Gatlantis's orders. Eventually, he took command of a fleet of his supporters from Garmillas to try and occupy the planet Terezart.[7][12][13]
Yamato faces off against Neu Deusura
On June 1, 2203, he launched his final attack against the Earthling battleship, during which he separated the Core Ship, which was carrying most of Neu Deusura's crew, from the primary warship. Following the battle, he agreed to work with the Earth against Gatlantis and offered to sacrifice his flagship to aid Yamato during the upcoming fight.[14][15]
He left aboard the Deusura II Core Ship to meet with the new government of the Greater Garmillan Empire to sign a peace.[16]
The liberation of Garmann[]
the Core Ship and the Super Gelvades in orbit of Garmann
In 2205, Desler and Garmillas's forces collaborated to liberate planet Garmann from the tyrannical rule of the Bolar Federation. For the past year, the Core Ship had been equipped aboard a Super Galvades-Class Transport Ship gifted to him by the Garmillas Empire. As part of the plan to liberate Garmann, the Core Ship and the Super Gelvades were detonated as improvised weapons in orbit of the planet, creating an interference wave that incapacitated the Bolar Federation fleet stationed there.[4]
Behind the scenes[]
The Core Ship's mother vessel is referred to as the "Deusula II" in the official subtitles, however the official spelling "Deusura" is visible on screen on its hull.[17][18]
The spelling "the 2nd" in place of "II" is used on bandai sets,[19] while the spelling "II" is seen on the Cosmo Fleet Special set for the ship.[20] The extended designation "Independent Combat Command Vessel" is seen on the official website[6] while the shortened form "Independent Command Vessel" is seen on bandai sets.[19]
