Chief Minister, also referred to as Imperial Chief Minister,[1] was the title bore by the highest-ranking official within the Gatlantis Empire, and the second-in-command of Great Emperor Zworder. The Chief Minister wielded enormous political power and was in charge of all internal and military affairs as well as the navigation of the Comet City Empire,[3][1] the Chief Minister could directly command the empire's Grand Chief Commissioners.[7]
The only individual who ever served as Chief Minister was Sifar Saberah, although technically since the name is attributed to various copies of the same Zemurian woman, multiple individuals have held the office at various points in Gatlantis's millennium-long history.[7][8][9][4]

Like other Gatlantean titles introduced in Space Battleship Yamato 2199: Odyssey of the Celestial Ark, "Chief Minister" (丞相, Jōshō) is the Japanese reading of an ancient Chinese title (丞相, Chéngxiàng). The title is translated in a variety of other ways, including "grand chancellor", "counselor-in-chief", "chancellor", "chief councillor", "imperial chancellor", "lieutenant chancellor" and "prime minister".[10] The english subtitles for the movie translate it as "First Minister".[7]
