Be Forever Yamato: REBEL 3199 (ヤマトよ()()REBELレベル 3199, Yamato yo Towa ni: Rebel 3199), also known as Star Blazers REBEL 3199 and as Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 3199 on Crunchyroll, is a 26 episodes long anime series and the direct sequel of Space Battleship Yamato 2205: The New Voyage.[3] The series was announced in the last scene of 2205's second movie Part 2: Stasha and its first chapter was released on July 19, 2024.[4][5][6] The new project's tagline is "Change the future. The enemy is … the space battleship Yamato"[3][7]

2205 head writer Harutoshi Fukui stated that the series will be a mix of various elements from Be Forever Yamato and Space Battleship Yamato III[3].

The series is released in chapters, each consisting of multiple episodes shown in theaters, much like its prequels.

Plot[]

For more details, see List of Space Battleship Yamato 3199 episodes and Individual episode summaries.

The year is 2207 A.D. Two years have passed since the annihilation of Gamilas and Iscandar. Suddenly, a mysterious giant object, the "Grand Reverse," appears in the solar system.

Despite the best efforts of the Earth Defense Forces, the "Grand Reverse" easily breaks through multiple layers of defenses and descends into Earth's new capital city without hesitation. Swarms of descending soldiers appear without a sound. Multi-legged tanks land. In the blink of an eye, the capital is overrun. Is there no way for Earth to resist? At that moment, the crew of the old Yamato fleet receives a top-secret order. "Rally to Yamato!"

Then a mysterious singing voice is heard. A mysterious man mutters, "I'm back." What is the invader's surprising identity? With the fate of mankind at stake, the voyage of the Space Battleship Yamato now begins into a time and space never before explored.[8]

The drama side is also more and more fulfilling. Mori Yuki is captured by enemy officer Alfon, and Kodai Susumu is unable to escape from his remorse - their love is put to the test of separation. Furthermore, Starsha's orphan Sasha will also be heavily involved. A fierce battle full of tension develops as all the characters act with their own will, and the meaning of that battle is once again questioned...[9]
