The Deusura III and the Hyuga, two battleship-carriers

A battleship-carrier is a type of warship in use primarily in the Garmillas Empire that fulfills the role of both a battleship and a carrier. The Gelvades Class was the first battleship-carrier ever developed. The ship type was later used by the Earth Federation in certain classes.

History[]

The Gelvades Class was the first battleship-carrier ever developed. It was meant to have the capabilities of both a carrier and a battleship, and was the result of a competition between various military companies to create a new type of warship. However, the end result was considered to costly to be effective, and the Gelvades was never mass produced.[1]

In 2203, during the Gatlantis Campaign, the Garmillas Empire was given a series of four Andromeda-class Armed Vanguard Starships. They were designated as "CCC"[2] (Crimson-Camraderie-Carrier)[3] and were considered among the "carrier-type" Andromedas.[4] They were also classified as battleship-carriers.[2]

After the war, the Garmillas Empire's Weapons Development Agency pursued a Astro Battleship-carrier Development Plan, which led to the creation of the Special 1st Class Astro Battleship-carrier Deusura III, based in its appearence on the Gelvades Class.[5]

When it was formalized, the Earth Federation Cosmo Navy's Hyuga-class was classified as a battleship-carrier. It also received a number of other designations, including Aerospaceplane Carrier.[6]

The English translation, spelling, and capitalization of the ship type's name is seen on bandai sets and various other side materials.[7][8]
