REMAKE CONTINUITY

A battle took place on the Saturnian moon Enceladus during the Great Garmillas War in February 2199.

Prelude[]

On February 12 the earth space battleship Yamato completed the first warp in earthling history and destroyed the Garmillas floating continent on Jupiter with its Wave-motion Gun.[5]

Yamato engine Melting

Following the event Colonel Valcke Schulz of the Pluto Frontline Base was ordered by his superior, Major General Gremdt Goer, to deal with the issue immediately and to only report to him after the enemy vessel had been destroyed. As it was cruising away from Jupiter Yamato encountered serious problems to its engine: a failure in a circuit breaker during the Wave-motion Gun’s firing caused one of the energy condensers to overheat to the point of melting. For the repair the crew needed a special mineral called Cosmonite 90, which they could easily obtain from an abandoned mine on Enceladus. At that time the ship had also recieved an allied SOS signal coming from the moon, thus two teams were formed, one to mine the cosmonite necessary for the repairs, and one to rescue any potential survivors.[1] Schulz rapidly detected the Yamato change of course, and sent a Delamya-class Assault Landing Ship, which was hiding under Saturn's ring, to intercept it.[1]

The Battle[]

Delamya deploys

Yamato landed inside of the canyon were the abandoned mine was situated. Master Chief Enomoto and Lt. Commander Sanada took command of the mining team, while the medical team was headed by Lieutenant Mori with Lieutenant Kodai as the team's escort. Following the team's Cosmo Seagull, the garmillas landing ship unloaded its complement of tanks. As the earthlings boarded what looked like the wreck of a Isokaze-class destroyer, the destroyer had no survivors aboard and it had sent the distress signal autonomously. As the group was checking for eventual survivors they had missed, a garmillan Saruba S-VI heavy tank shot at and destroyed their recon plane, sending out a shockwave which made one of the ship's hatches close, trapping a nurse and Yamato's autonomous analysis unit Analyzer inside the crashlanded Isokaze.[1]

At the same time the remaining tanks sent by the Delamya engaged the Yamato, however as Sanada quickly deduced, the enemy did not have sufficient forces to attack the battleship directly. The Yamato fighter squadron couldn't take off, as the ship would first need to gain altitude to launch the fighters. Only the two Cosmo Zeros aboard the ship, which were capable of launching from catapults situated over the hull, could be launched, Ensign Akira Yamamoto of the accounting department, immediately took the chance and stole one of the two planes to fend off the garmillans.[1]

As the excavation squad ineffectively tried to hold back the enemy using mining equipment, Yamamoto arrived to the scene quickly destroying two Saruba S-VIs, she was followed by the air wing's commander Saburo Kato, who take immediately take out a Melbar M-III Type Armored Personnel Carrier. Despite not knowing who the unauthorised pilot was, Kato ordered her to go and help the medical team as he engaged the approaching Delamya, which he easily sunk.[1]

Gamiloid Killed

Kodai kills the last Gamiloid

While Kodai was occupied with helping Analyzer and the nurse to break free from the wreck, Mori was captured by three Gamiloids who had the intention of bringing her to their base, possibly to interrogate her. The two attacked Kodai, making him loose his gun, but he found another one stuck to the Isokaze's floor and menaged to use it to destroy one of the Gamiloids. He followed the remaining androids outside of the wreckage and took one out, the one carrying Mori was distracted by the erruption of one of Enceladus' geysers, which swallowed the Melbar M-III it was trying to return to. The Lieutenant took the occasion to free herself from her captor, in doing so she allowed Kodai to get a clean line of fire to destroy the mechanical soldier. As the last remaining Saruba S-VI began to approach the two Lieutenants, Yamamoto menaged to take it down using the Zero's anti-tank cannon.[1]

Aftermath[]

Kodai discovers his brother's name on the gun

As soon as they were out of danger Kodai checked the name on the hilt of the gun that had just saved his and his teammates' lives, much to his dismay, he found out that the gun belonged to his, seemigly deceased, older brother Mamoru Kodai, and that the ship that they had found was the Isokaze captained by Mamoru: Yukikaze.[1]

Yamamoto air corps

Yamamoto present's herself to the FIghter squadron

Following her return to Yamato, Yamamoto revealed her identity as the Zero's thief to Kato. Despite initial setbacks from the fighter squadron commander, who had been friends and comrades with Yamamoto's deceased brother Akio, Yamamoto's abilities as a pilot were noticed by Kodai and eventually she convinced him to use his authority as tactics officer to let her move from the Accounting division to the fighter squadron. She would become one of Yamato's most important assets in the following battles and, years later, in the Gatlantis and Iscandar Incident.[1][2][6][7]

Alter hallway

Alter escaping from Yamato's security

The destroyed bodies of the Gamilloids were recovered and Yamato's technological division menaged to reactivate one of them, which they named Alter. Alter became friends with Analyzer and eventually begun communicating with the Iscandarian princess Yurisha, who remained in a deep coma aboard Yamato. In an attempt to reach her Alter hacked into the battleship's system and tried to escape from the lab he was kept in. He was eventually hacked by Analyzer in an attempt to stop him from demaging the ship and to rescue him from the security squad that was hunting him, but an energy surge, presumably caused by the tinkering with its systems, causing his systems to permanently shut down, effectively killing him.[8]
