Baleras Tower, referred to as the Presidential Tower on the Yamato's computers,[3] also known as the Desler Presidential Office[4] or, more commonly, just the Presidential Office, was a tower built in the Greater Garmillan Empire's imperial capital Baleras. It served as the seat of Eternal Supreme Leader Abelt Desler and as the headquarters of the Imperial Military and of the Greater Garmillan Empire's civil government.[1][5][6] It was constructed by a group of nobles of the Garmillas Grand Duchy, who secretly turned it into a weapon with the objective of using it to blackmail Garmillas's double planet Iscandar.
It was 2,400 meters tall.[7]

Baleras Tower began construction during the rule of Erik Vam Desler to be the new Leader's Office in place of the Desler family's private residence. Knowing that planet Garmillas was going to naturally collapse in no more than a century, a group of aristocrats decided to build a wave-motion energy powered superweapon[8] inside of the tower. They intended to use it to threaten Garmillas's twin planet, Iscandar, into giving them a Cosmo Reverse System, a device capable of altering a planet's ecosystem, hoping it would save their dying world.[2][9]
After a brutal civil war, Abelt Desler, nephew of Erich, took control of Garmillas and declared himself Eternal Supreme Leader of the newly founded Greater Garmillan Empire, abolishing the aristocracy. Desler disagreed with the plan to use the tower against Iscandar, not only because there was no certainty of the CRS working on a naturally decaying world, but also because of his love for Iscandar's Queen.[2] Despite this, the former aristocrats still held very high positions within the imperial military, and continued opposing the Supreme Leader.[9]

In July of 2199,[10] Baleras fell under siege by the Earthling battleship Yamato, which had rammed the Leader's Office and was preparing to sieze the facility. Desler, in a fit of madness, abbandoned the building aboard the structure's escape vessel, which also powered its superweapon. He boarded the space fortress Baleras II, which he declared the new Imperial Capital before dropping one of its sectors on Baleras. This was done to destroy both the Tower and the aristocrats still hiding in the capital,[9] as well as the invading Earthlings, although millions of Garmillan lives would have been lost. However, Desler's plan was thwarted by Yamato, which destroyed the falling sector with its Wave-motion Gun, but in doing so, it caused immense structural damage to the tower.[6]

Following the end of the battle, Desler was believed to have been killed in action, and a new government took the place of his administration.[11] The following administrations used another building as their headquarters, but remained located in Baleras.[12] Years later, the husk of the crumbled Baleras Tower still loomed over the capital.[9] The tower was destroyed along with the city and planet by a Dezariam attack.[13]
