Great Garmillas War[]
UNCN ships take off to fight in the First Battle of Mars
In 2191, early in the Great Garmillas War, the Asteroid Belt was used by the reorganized UNCN as an absolute defense line during the First Battle of Mars. While it was impossible for the Cosmo Navy to repel all of the invading garmillan forces beyond the Belt, the battle caused the garmillas to switch their tactics and begin bombing the Earth using planet bombs.[2]
Yamato revolt[]
Yamato used the belt's asteroid as protection
On December 24, 2202, the space battleship Yamato rebelled against the Earth Federation's government and the United Nations Cosmo Force and embarked on an unauthorized mission toward planet Terezart. The Asteroid Belt would later be the site of a brief skirmish between Captain Yamanami's Andromeda and Yamato, the rebelling battleship used its ARGO system to create a protective shield out of the Belt's asteroids.[1]

- In Yamato 2202 the Belt's asteroid are shown to be very close to each other, in reality the average distance between two bodies in the Asteroid Belt is circa 600,000 miles (about 1 million km)[1][3]
