Aquarius is a wandering planet featured in the movie Final Yamato.

Overview[]

Fy AquariusKontinente

Aquarius is a wandering planet made entirely out of water which travels throughout the Milky Way galaxy on a long orbit at roughly half the speed of light, flooding any worlds it passes and thus bringing either life to lifeless planets (such as the ancient primordial Earth) or death to inhabited worlds (such as Denguil). The only landmasses on its surface are in the form of floating continents and islands which once supported life, but its native population is now extinct. It also possesses three non-aligned planetary rings of ice crystals.

History[]

98206

In 2203 AD, a major spatial anomaly occurred somewhere in the universe. Another galaxy appeared from an interdimensional rift, causing a massive collision with the Milky Way galaxy and the destruction of many stars and planets. The water planet Aquarius emerged from the intergalactic event and started to interact with the gravitational pull of the planet Denguil, causing huge amounts of water to flow from Aquarius and travel towards Denguil, eventually flooding and submerging the world altogether. Some of the native inhabitants, including the leader and his son, fled the planet via Uruku, one of the planet's landmasses that was repurposed as a spacefaring planetoid-vessel, leaving thousands of their own kind to perish in the floods. The Earth vessel Yamato, which accidentally warped into the area, attempted to rescue the remaining people on the planet, but only manages to save one boy.

Aquarius continues on its migration through interstellar space, but at some point, the Denguil decided to harness the water world's power for their own machinations, turning the source of their misfortune into a weapon. The scientific prowess of the Denguil managed to reach the point that it is capable of tethering Aquarius to Uruku and warping the planet with them. With this ability, the Denguil travelled to Earth, water planet in tow, with the intent of drowning out all life on Earth so that they could have a new home to settle. The plan was ultimately foiled when Okita detonated the Yamato filled with tritium-hydrogen energy to forcefully disconnect the gravitational link of Aquarius with Earth and stop its flooding.
