Alphon

2nd Lt. Alphon (アルフォン少尉 Arufon shōi?) is an Intelligence Division Officer as well as a soldier of the Dark Star Cluster Empire.

Personality[]

From what is known of Alphon's personality is that he is usually a brilliant, highly skilled, intelligent, calm, cool headed, civilized, and had a noble sense of honor. He is also shown having more sympathetic, yet caring side as well, when he had a wounded Yuki Mori taken to a nearby hospital, as he was also deeply in love with her, even if she was already in love with Susumu Kodai. He was known to be a man of his word, as when he freed Yuki in order to allow her to join up with the Human Resistance, and later in his final moments when he kept his promise to Yuki Mori that he would help her to put a stop to the Hyperion Bomb's detonation, if she defeated him.

History[]

When Yuki Mori was shot while trying to board the departing President's shuttle, much to Susumu Kodai's shock and horror, when she fell. Lt. Alphon then appeared from the shadows and removed his helmet as he himself knelt down and examined the body of Yuki Mori, realizing that she's injured and unconscious, yet still alive. As an official Intelligence Division Officer in the Dark Star Cluster Empire's invasion of Earth, he gains his own quarters on the conquered planet, and saves the life of a wounded Yuki Mori, after carrying her to a Hospital, with whom he falls in love when she regains conscious at first frightening her. While still wary of Alphon, she quickly calms down when he shows her that he means her no harm. Yuki Mori then asks him what happened to Susumu Kodai, the man who she was in love with. From his reports that he tells her is that their fighters chased after the commandeered President's shuttle and he himself presumed that the Yamato crew members on the shuttle might have perished, much to Yuki's shock. Unlike most Dezarians, Lt. Alphon treats Yuki in a more respectable and civilized manner as she is his special guest and even offered her food. When she proves unable to return his affections, due to her love for Susumu Kodai, he reluctantly releases her and allows her to join a human resistance movement, and vows that if she defeats him next time they meet, he will help her to stop the invasion. When they do meet again during the Earth Resistance’s Assault on the Hyperion Bomb, led by Yuki as they encounter enemy resistance. Yuki Mori is nearly close when she sees one of the Human Resistance fighters being severely wounded by none other than Lt. Alphon, who then confronts Yuki directly face to face with both of their sidearms drawn. Alphon then asks her if she's gonna kill him, to which Yuki hesitates. For that reason he decides not to harm her, however he is in fact mortally wounded by the same soldier he shot, and in turn kills that soldier in return. Lt. Alphon suddenly collapses, but he is helped by Yuki who does her best to help him only to shockingly discover that Lt. Alphon is actually a cyborg, a part man, part machine-like being. Lt. Alphon begs Yuki to grant him his final request to let her hold him against her for warmth, to which she agrees. As Lt. Alphon lay dying in Yuki's arms, he confesses to her that he truly loved her, and added that life has been empty and meaningless for his people for far too long, ever since their conversion to bionics. As promised, he handed her the Hyperion Bomb's blueprints and told her how to correctly disable it before Alphon finally passes on, much to Yuki's great sadness. ("Be Forever Yamato")
