History[]

Entering Service[]

Achilles's launch cerimony

Achilles was one of the first UNCN Adromeda-class ships to enter service. It launched on December 8, 2202 from the Earth Federation Capital together with Antares, Apollo Norm and Aldebaran following a cerimony held by the E.F.G. President under the watchful eye of the UNCF leadership and Garmillan representatives.[1]

On December 25,[6] the Achilles participated in a fleet exercise near Jupiter along with the Andromeda, three other ships of its class and fourteen Dreadnought-class Vanguard Starships.[7]

At war with Gatlantis[]

Achilles damage

Achilles severe damage

On May 8 the Achilles joined the Andromeda along with hundreds of UNCN vessels at the Battle of Saturn, beating back the Gatlantian invading fleet. When the Ark of Destruction appeared, the Cosmo Navy concentrated its firepower against its core with little effect. The Ark generated a gravity storm to counterattack, throwing the earthling fleet in disarray. Achilles menaged to escape the destruction and retreated, eventually she was tasked with holding the Mars absolute defense line during the Decisive Battle off Mars. It briefly fought side-by-side with garmilas forces before they retreated to form a defense line on Earth.[8][9][10]

Eventually Gatlantis succeeded in breaking the Mars defense line and the damaged Achilles was towed to a secure area behind Mars where the surviving ships gathered alongside Garmilas forces and the Yamato undergoing a refit.[11] It's believed that Achilles survived the rest of the war without returning to the front.[12]
